A hapless performance from Charlton at Barnsley this afternoon won’t need much summary or analysis. Barnsley did little all afternoon, except score three goals. Charlton huffed and puffed, but were less than useless in front of goal. A thirty yard wonderstrike from Barnsley’s Benson, who found himself with enough space and time to compose himself and pick his spot, got Barnsley off the mark. Conversely, the few shots Charlton mustered could only find the stand behind. Charlton played some decent football at times, but any threat consistently fizzled out in the final third.

The second half was similar to the first. But Barnsley scored two this period. So, really it was worse! Charlton’s second half was laboured and poor, but after a slew(sp?) of substitutions, Payne scored a consolation goal. We showcased some comedic defending at times to cap off a bad day. We’re really not very good at either end.

Barnsley 3 Charlton 1

Over to you.

Garnerball is ineffective and needs to change, we just don't have the players for it. Stockley although hopeless so far this season can score goals at this level.

Long season ahead, expect Garner will be gone before Xmas the way its going
  • Brownie ripping into us and rightly so

If I was Garner I would out TS in the hope I would get the sack to get me out of this shit show of a club.

  • We controlled large periods of the game, but we're so poor in the final third & the defending was woeful.

Any suggestions on what manager/coach [mad enough to come to us] might get more out of our squad?

Bowyer is an obvious starter for 10.

Garner: "I'm not blaming anyone but myself."

Fair play, but taking the blame is only one part of the equation. The next is analyzing what went wrong and improving it.

I don't think Garner is the biggest problem here, I think he's a bright young coach, but he does need to do better with things like defensive shape in our own third, defending in transition, and working on the final ball matching runners into the box.
  • Players should be ashamed of that performance. Sandgaard and Garner both clueless. Another season over before it's started, save for the possible thrill of a relegation battle or a pizza cup run.
  • Utter 💩
  • Can almost hear that Garner doesn't really believe what he's saying here.
  • No decent players, no shop, no staff, no hope.

4-3-3 didn't work under Adkins and isn't working now

big test for the manager now, will he change things or will he stick with it. Unfortunately I think he wont try anything different and have the BristolRovers Garner rather than the Swindon Garner

Garner getting some stick on the match thread and I must admit I'm not totally convinced by him.
    But
    But
    But
Asking Garner to challenge for promotion with this group of players is like asking Lewis Hamilton to win a grand prix race in a Ford Capri.

Only on person to blame for how this season is playing out and that's Sandgaard for not giving Garner the players he needs.
Garner will get us relegated. Out of his depth

A new manager would find the same problems.

It’s going the same way it has in the past every time we get a manager intending to play attractive football. Starts well, loses effectiveness and then falls apart.

Where do we go from here? We’d be in the playoffs if we could take more chances, but we’ll be in a relegation battle if we don’t improve.

    ‘Stockley don’t like it,
Hitting the target, hitting the target (interchangeable with Corey and Rak-Sakyi because I don’t think Stockley even has shots any more)

This is not a Bowyer squad. And rigidity and discipline weren't his strong suits anyway.

Garner is our fourth manager in less than two years. I think he's the brightest and seems the most highly regarded within the game. Changing him now won't make things better.
  • Garner will be the next fall guy/excuse, but we all know what/who the problem is. Sell up.

Stockley should not start the next game, all he does is blame others. He didn't win a fucking header. I hate watching him. Yes the rest of the team isn't great but he is massively at fault. Worst player at the club.
