I'll take this performance with a pinch of salt, because I missed it, but It certainly sounds like we're in another one of those "whipping boy" moments.
Of course he wasn't good, but that applies to most of the team. Fraser had a few nice moments, but then disappeared for long moments of the game. Payne looked good when he came on, but then he had a free role to go and attack, whereas Morgan was having to do the Dobson role as well as trying to bring the ball forward.
Indeed on commentary Shirtliff mentioned during the game that Morgan had been playing quite well.4 -
You can’t blame Garner for this, the fault lies with one man and one man only.
The Yank-Danish, guitar playing clown that is “running” the joint along with his execrable American sidekick.
What a pair of morons, they have taken us to our lowest ebb in decades - after promising us the world.
Just sell the club you egotistical twat and take your dopey Missus with you back to Yank land.4 -
I didn't watch today's match and, frankly, I don't even feel inspired enough to watch the 'highlights'. It sounds all too familiar though. Lightweight up front, sloppy at the back. I'm not even convinced from what I've read today that the football in between was as good as we've seen on occasion. Perhaps that's not surprising really. So much of successful football is about being confident. It's as much about what goes on in the players heads as it is about what happens on the pitch. Why would we expect a team without a win in six outings to play well; their confidence takes another knock every time they play.
What can be done about it? The transfer window has been and gone and been well and truly wasted. We desperately need reinforcements, but there's no realistic way of getting them. Whilst some fans have remained loyal to the manager, others are starting to get critical. Is it time for a change? I'm not convinced. I think he's probably doing the best we can expect with the current squad. I genuinely can't see us doing better under anyone else. And the twin dangers of keep chopping and changing are that you end up continually wasting money on compensation whilst never building a team ethos and spirit.
Some have suggested protests against the owner. I personally can't see what it would achieve. What exactly would the demands of any protest be? We can't force him to spend. Even if we convinced him of the need, there's still no market for him to purchase in. And if he sold up, who would buy? The club has no saleable assets and it's going nowhere fast. As likely as not we'd just be inviting another bunch of crooks in to suck us dry. And all the time, the dead hand of the Belgian vampire is like a millstone around our necks and we're drowning.
The best we can hope for is a season of mid-table mediocrity, just like last year. Only this year's mediocrity will be more expensive to watch than last year's variety. So much for the Promised Premiership football - even the the thought of making the third tier play offs is wildly over-optimistic. And there's the very real danger that if mediocrity is all we can aspire to, at some point we'll really slip up and exit League One via the trapdoor. And yes, that could even happen this season. I really wish I could think of some positive way out of this predicament, but I can't. It's an absolute shit show of a club. I guess the only positive is that we're Charlton fans; we're well accustomed to heartache.

Indeed a back 4 of Egbo Inniss Pearce Purrington would have been far more effective than what we put out today. Egbo having the freedom to bomb forward, Purrington supporting the left winger, and the 2 CBs doing the defensive basics, and organising things at the back.
Ditto Lavelle.
Charlton players are always decent until they cross the white line.
People may have questioned Inniss's distribution, but that's far less of an issue than the appalling CB defending for 2 goals today0 -

Thought Kirk was better with st least 3 good centres that were missed by others8

10 games into this season and we're going nowhere (nowhere positive anyway).
Can't score enough goals to win a game, can't keep clean sheets, don't have a strong enough squad.
There is only so long we can wait for the new "identity" to click if we're not winning games.
Breaking even is as unrealistic as getting promoted.
Garner is voicing his frustration with the transfer situation more publicly now.
I wonder how patient Sandgaard will remain as he sees his debts rise and the team unable to win.

Today was really poor. Only positives were sess and Payne plus Egbo. Formation is never going to work. Too exposed down the middle and flanks and not enough in attack. They all need to be more composed in front of goal too. We almost had a full squad to choose from today but JFC needs to come in now. I cannot understand why mcgrandles or Morgan are above him in the pecking order.0

Clem_Snide said:Garner's post match assessment was perfect. Football matches are won at both ends of the pitch. We were shit in attack and defence today. We still created a fair bit, but the finishing was abysmal. Defensively we look a shambles. Egbo looked ok, but both centre backs and Clare were woeful. All over the shop. The midfielder/ centre back, right back, right wing back & now left back, give him a break0

Garner ball is well and truly gone from our game, this is the same as Adkins ball2

i believe we may just have to face facts and admit that our cunning plan of signing low League 1 and League 2 players to win us promotion to the championship may just have backfired?12

We have an owner who wants us to play a certain way.
He hires a manager who buys into that
Manager isn't provided with the players to play that way.
Owner doesn't give a hoot and insists we carry on.
Players aren't up to it.
If I hire 3 nurses there's no point me asking them to carry out brain surgery 3 times a day.
The bit Garner often says is what he sees on match day isn't what he sees in training....... what he seems to forget is what he see's in training is Charlton v Charlton and right now we're Shute!
I honestly think we're going to continue a slow and painful slide down the table. TS will panic a bit before Christmas, blame the Cat, the groundsmen and the barmaid and anyone else around, sack Garner and rinse repeat........

I can't believe what I'm about to say but even Parkys David Mooney squad was better then this.
I miss 17,000 turning up on a Tuesday night for a game against MK Dons at The Valley.
Now days we would barely get 7,000 and MK dons would probably be pre considered the better side.
I didn't buy the stream today because I honestly didn't expect anything else.
Doesn't feel the same anymore.
This isn't Charlton. When you look at the performances, the way the club is being run, the attendance figures.
Gutted.

We were the better side for the majority of the game but like a tennis match, it doesn't matter how many points you win if you can't make it count when it matters. Our pass and move style was opening them up at will, particularly in the first half. I remain encouraged by that.Unfortunately, careless and sloppy play at both ends of the pitch cost us today. And the fact that basic mistakes kept being made by the players on the pitch is making me doubt that we have the nous to convert on the periods of dominance (because that's what it is) that Garner's tactics are affording us. I could feel the confidence drained from the players, and from myself sitting at home watching.Getting rid of Garner at this point would be absolute lunacy though.5

I would like to see the deckchairs rearranged to a different formation. I'm sure that would save us.2

Thomas hasn’t tweeted ‘booooom’ in a while when we score, hope he’s ok. Getting concerned he may be dead and that his Zynex equipment can’t revive him.2
