POST-MATCH THREAD: Derby v Charlton Athletic | Tues 27th Feb 2024

A battling performance throughout finally broke Charlton’s way, Charlton worked hard to contain Derby, who looked a little flat and not a club that’s second in the table. The breakthrough came for the home side through a set piece that was poorly defended. Where the first half was rather tiresome, the match opened up in the second half. Charlton found the equaliser through the hard-working Daniel Kanu drawing a penalty that substitute Alfie May was able to score. The winner came on 80 minutes through Karoy Anderson blasting home fa screamer rom eighteen yards, getting on the end of a rebound after Daniel Kanu’s shot was saved.
With Reading docked additional points this win helps push us up and give us something to build on as the fixtures get a little easier now. Unfortunately, Port Vale late Jayden Stockley equaliser pulls them back! Yes!!!
Derby 1 Charlton 2
Winning feels good!
Over to you.

Brilliant, brilliant result!
You just couldn’t have reasonably predicted that after such an awful first half. We were sunday morning level with Derby not that much better, albeit clearly the better side. As the half hour approached we started to create a bit more pressure but fell behind as our vulnerability to aerial set pieces showed up again.
Pan Camara looked very rusty, giving the ball away on several occasions so it was no surprise when he was subbed after an hour.
We started the second half better then stepped up again with two substitutions. Then a great ball from Conor Coventry and a burst of pace from Daniel Kanu won a penalty for the equaliser. We clearly gained a lot of confidence and then went ahead with a belter of strike from Karoy Anderson.
I was worried about the central defence with Lloyd Jones’s absence, but REG, TT and Gillesphey all played well. Conor Coventry had a tremendous second half. Thierry Small looks so much more solid than Taco Edun. Daniel Kanu continued his fantastic run of form.
Nathan Jones looks to have great tactical awareness, the ability to organise and great motivational skills. We look a completely different proposition under his leadership.
I love Charlton come what may, but they sure are a lot easier to love when they’re playing with this spirit than the resigned looking bunch we were under Appleton.

Incredible stuff. Fairly sure that we would’ve lost the last 3 under Appleton and now be sat in the bottom 4 only above Vale on goal difference

Fantastic- Really feels like a corner has been turned6

Stood up and said "SHIT!" at the final whistle cos I forgot how to celebrate a win. Off for a little lay down now.26

We would not have got a single point from these last 3 games under Appleton.
5 points is a ridiculous return.
Back him in the summer and Nathan Jones will piss this league next season.48 -
Very happy for Anderson. He's been good if not always, then most of the time this season.
Looked really good last couple.
So happy him and Kanu having such a big impact.
