This may just be the high of winning an actual game but it just feels a little bit different than under any manager since Bowyer and I am all in on Nathan Jones
Drop Dobson and look what happens! All you Andy Scott
doubters take note….
The last two games have perfectly demonstrated why that
solid defensive base is always the foundation for success. It was ugly,
it was hard to watch, but, even though we conceded, we were still in touching distance.
Crucially, that meant when their keeper had a rush of blood to the head and we
got that bit of luck for Kanu’s shot to bounce back to Anderson (who still had plenty
to do, btw), we were scoring goals to win three points, not rescue one.
Fair play to Nathan Jones for turning our defending around
so dramatically. I really hope it lasts. Also, great managerial vision from him to pick
Kanu, Anderson, and Small (who, let’s not forget, couldn’t get a game in bloody
Scotland) as the players to turn us around. The three of them, all under 20 (!),
have made a huge difference.
The warm inner glow of a well deserved and hard-fought win
on the road. It’s a been a long time, but welcome home my old friend – please stick
around for while.
Would that be the same Andy Scott who didn't want the Jones boy to come in ? Run him out of our club !!!
NJ has managed to nearly fix the defence, after only 5 games, from being porous and a pushover to resolute. That is what, if it continues, will stop us from being relegated. Keep each game tight for 60 minutes and then bring on the finishers. Hopefully Leaburn's injury will keep him here next season. How great would it be to have Leaburn and Kanu starting and Alfie and Chuks finishing.
Great second half performance - the youngsters Kanu, Anderson and Small were excellent, great finish by Anderson and Coventry really grew into the game - defence stayed solid - also credit to May on his coolly taken pen.
Fantastic feeling and a well earned 3 points. well done Charlton and well done Nathan Jones. at last we have a manager that has Balls and Brains, unlike the gutless wankers before him. this season 👍👍👍
People were moaning that we didn't replace our best player in January and it turns out our best player all along was a child we've convinced to chase after people like they murdered his cat
Edmonds - Green slipping under the radar a bit here, but what a difference this fella has made to our defence. No nonsense. Good positionally. Deals with almost everything thrown at him. Excellent signing
Fantastic 2nd half. Thomas, Gillesphie, Coventry especially, Kanu, Small all tremendous. And Aneke played a big part but worryingly looked completely knackered at the end.

No worries. Just give him the last 10 minutes on Saturday.
That should be long enough for him to cause chaos in the Northampton defence.
Huge result. Not just for this season but for the future of our club. Still early days for sure but this is the most hopeful I’ve felt about Charlton in a long, long time
As I said on match thread - when our 2nd went in (and what a strike) - I went mental - ran up and down my hallway like a maniac - my 2 dogs retreated upstairs in fright - that is how a proper CAFC team plays - fight, application, shape, desire etc etc
BUT most of all WE play football (well we try - it is Div 3) - Derby, hmmmm
You're posting again, have you finished in the bedroom already ?
Complete transformation at halftime. First half was dire. Second half an excellent performance. The youngsters leading the way. Table looks a whole lot better tonight with all the results going for us for a change including Reading getting docked two points. Another couple of wins and we’ll be wondering what all the fuss was about. Hats off to them. Without pissing in our own chips though, how poor were Derby? How on earth are they second? Just shows what we could have achieved this season with decent management from the off.
Wow. Great second half, the culmination of what we've been building up to. I so much prefer us playing with energy and aggression, rather than the ineffective slow passing game we had before he arrived. Indeed Kanu is almost the first name on the teamsheet at the moment, as his pressing up top is such an important part of our game at the moment.
The squad building has been a bit shambolic this season, but it has left us with lots of options to rotate players and have a strong bench as well. 4 of the 5 January permanent outfield signings started today (Ramsay missing through injury would have made it 5 out of 5) and all 4 played well, so credit has to be given to the recruitment team.
Before the game I had wondered why many Derby fans were unhappy with Warne, but after that I can understand more. Awful football for a top 3 side with a big budget, they played like you'd expect an overachieving small team to play, nicking a goal from a set piece and hanging on.
5 points from the top 3 teams didn't seem possible a month ago. The 1st half just saw the ball in the air and it was low quality. The 2nd half saw Charlton come out with a stronger mentality and the two players struggling saw Camará and Ladapo replaced by Aneke and May just into the 2nd half and both made an impact. Chuks nearly scored after 10 seconds. We suddenly had 11 players on the field and no passengers as everyone upped their game. 12 games/steps to go and we need to keep the 2nd half intensity up.
Buzzing with the victory and we mustn't get greedy with Aneke's game time as that just won't work.
Great to see a victory and hope it's the catalyst for better times ahead.

Warne (who seems to be known as the PE teacher) is taking dogs abuse. One poster thinks he could improve with this set up.

Just wanted to say " Arise, Sir Nathan . You and your brave lads have made an old lady very happy tonight"
( It's been a while.....)
