Was impressed with him again. Trying to be unbiased but him and VVD look solid0

A very good game from Joe. Fulsome praise for his performance on NBC from Robbie Earle and - especially - Robbie Mustoe, both of whom feel that he has a great chance to nail down that position.0

So Gomez tweeted this

Caught the first half tonight thought he did really well. Hope he can have an injury free season and nail down his place.1

Love the crowd noises in this clip.
First you hear the stripey excitement because their golden boy looks like he’s through on goal...
Then they all react in unison after the tackle because surely anyone taking the ball off Zaha’s toes is an instant foul...
Lastly, the whole stadium quickly realise there wasn’t a foul at all and Gomez has Zaha in his pocket...6 -
The only part of his game he needs to work on is giving away silly fouls but he's still young so that will soon come .0

I think he lacks a little bit of aggression in the air, but if he improves that, he really will be a top defender.2

Liverpool did a tremendous job developing him and Shelvey9

Really good for Van Dijk to be able to learn from Gomez.9

I said exact same to a mate, lacks a physical and aerial presence and also maybe a bit of a nasty streak but he's still young so can learn.superchrissypowell said:I think he lacks a little bit of aggression in the air, but if he improves that, he really will be a top defender.

Really pleased he's doing well there especially after the injuries he's had, could go all the way and be an England regular.1

Amazing insight by Sheared as ever.5

Yes he does come from the 'state the bleeding obvious' school of punditry.0

Great article from Sky, they should have mentioned the England game where he made Neymar look stupid!!
Klopp would be insane to drop him from the starting eleven at the moment thats for sure0 -
Recalled to England squad.5
-
Going to be an England regular for another 10 years or so I think.
I agree that he needs to be a little more aggressive in the air, but otherwise, he has it all.
Good luck to him, got the potential to be the best academy player to ever come through the club.7 -

let's see how long it takes before we are wiped from his history by the lazy journalists & pundits...0 -
He’s been really unlucky in his short career with so many injuries.
IMO he would have gone to both Euros 16 and WC 18 if it wasn’t for injuries. Would love to see him make it through this season playing 40+ matches without getting injured.
If he can stay fit I think Gomez will become a certainty in England squad, like Alli, Stones etc for the next 10 years.

Having another great game today
Just put in a brilliant block to stop James Maddison from almost certainly getting a goal back3 -
