Summer 2019 Transfer Rumours (ed. Pg 296 - Start of Deadline Day)

I think League 1 and 2 still have loan windows until the end of August, but the Champ is in line with the Prem.soapboxsam said:
Cheers @Scoham for that as the dates have changed and why it was imperative that Lee and team were signed up sooner than they were.Scoham said:
It’s the same window, we have until 8th August to bring in permanent and loan signings.soapboxsam said:Without the quality of our Three loan players last season: Cullen, was so consistent in midfield, ditto Purrington at LB.
Bielik wasn't consistent, had a couple of shockers early doors but despite too many injuries for a young player was the class act in the season when played in Midfield.
IF by some miracle we could get Cullen or Bielik back it would give us a great chance of achieving our goal of staying up.
This transfer window is important but the loan window will decide whether we spend more than 1 season back in the Championship.
I think players without a club are only exception, but even they possibly have a deadline of end of August.
Gallen and Bowyer will need to weave their magic. Think Corinthians casuals.
It's not about the money. Bullshit with a smile and an air freshener should work.
Possibly, I can’t find a definitive answer.Richard J said:
So free agents will not be able to sign for a club between September and the January window?Scoham said:

I still believe with free agents, so long as they’re a free agent before the close of the respective windows, you will still be able to sign them.
If they’ve changed it so that you can’t sign them beyond the normal window, I think you’ll have a lot of players taking potential legal action as they’re essentially stopping them from working and a possible loss of earnings.4 -
So a footballer is out of work but can't start a new job until January.
Sure the legal profession could look at this as a restraint of trade?1 -
Pretty sure free agents can still be signed outside the window. PL clubs have to submit squads to the league, so I imagine it would be unusual for them to sign free agents outside the windows anyway, but not an issue for EFL clubsSage said:I still believe with free agents, so long as they’re a free agent before the close of the respective windows, you will still be able to sign them.

Apologies if shared already
We are linked with Baldock0 -
He's still under contract till 2021, they paid a fee of over 3 mill for him and he's still valued in excess of 2 mill. People are saying it would cost a mill. The bloke who has tweeted it has said reliable but I don't see us paying 7 figures for a 30 year old, that's un-Roland2
-
He's pony sadly.0
-
Powell wanted Baldock in the summer of 2012.2
-
Agreed - it is most definitely not a Roland type of signing. Can't see us spending a seven figure fee on anyone while we're stuck with the old ballbag, even if they're young and talented. That is, unless...

Given the choice between signing Sam Baldock and the man who cleans the public toilets in Aberdeen, I’d go for Wee Jock Poo Pong McPlop every timeOggy Red said:

His scoring record over the last eight years...

It sounds underwhelming cause of his age and record, but Taylor, Aneke, Bonne and Baldock sounds a lot better than Reza, Makienok, Sanogo and Watt4

Or a little short of 1 in 4. Would likely score 10 ish goals in a season if he stays fit.0 -
10 goals in the Championship for a relegated side ( Bristol City ) is a fairly decent return, but his 11 for Brighton was in their promotion season so you'd imagine he'd have got plenty of chancesCallumcafc said:

I can’t imagine there’s anything in the Baldock rumours. Only one prolific season in League 1, on big wages and that’s probably not the only reason Reading want to move him on. There must be some younger, hungrier players out there with more potential.0
-
Bowyer did hint in his interview that is looking for some experience, so ticks that box.0

He's getting on a bit, he's possibly Baldcock now.Oggy Red said:

Was about to say the same.CH4RLTON said:Bowyer did hint in his interview that is looking for some experience, so ticks that box.
Remember him as a busy, hardworking player with a goal in him.
Could be a good foil for Lyle and Aneke.
No idea if he's the same player Powell wanted 7 years ago.

He's 7 years older...6 -
So are there two Sam Baldocks? And this Sam Baldock might not be the one Powell was after?0
-
Rather have his brother George tbh0
-
If we if we go into next season with Taylor, Aneke, Bonne and Baldock as the front four options, I would be happy enough on the low budget we have. All of them know where the goal is, it will be whether we can get sufficient creativity in the midfield to unlock the better Championship defences vs. league 1?0

There's no arguing with that logic : - )East_Stand_Loopy said:

Taylor is a better player than he was seven years ago. Baldock may be worse.0 -

not a rumour .. a wish .. experienced and consistent goal scorer, albeit in the bottom 2 divisions ? .. the same name I have been touting for the past five seasons .. Paddy Madden

Aren't Reading on one of those one out one in embargoes?
Therefore releasing Baldock might mean they can bid for Piggott.0 -
Haven’t watched this yet but apparently Bowyer has said he wants 2 or 3 permanent signings and four loans. Also talks about Aneke coming in as a 10, so we need 1 ideally 2 strikers.6
