Oztumer must be getting pretty fed up being buggered about by Charlton. That’s the last two windows that he’s been “in the building/in Greenwich Park/in Bluewater shopping” and not been signed.2

This window, we don’t know what is happening with him but with all the issues at Bolton anyway, the problem could well be at their end if he is holding out on monies owed for example. We just don’t know. Or, we might have thought we could get better if we just hang in there that little longer.4 -
Henry Irving said:Wow, no need for the personal abuse nonsense.
You referenced Lee and Bowyer but in both cases a substantial part of it was reinvested in the club leading to progress on and off the pitch.
The then owners had nothing like the disposal capital in the way Duchatelet has.
They chose to reinvest the money rather than pay off themselves, huge, huge difference.
Lee and Bowyer (funny how that pans) were both sold and the money wasn't directly invested in the team. It was invested in infrastructure and in some part to paying the wages.
Remember the the point Rick made about selling some land/houses and the answer was "well what player would you have sold instead?"
Paying himself off implied that he MADE money out of it, he is £70 odd million in the brown at the moment. Unless he finds some mug to pay him that back he is going to loose a lot of money.
As far as I am aware he hasn't personally made a single penny out of the club yet? Happy to be proved wrong. In that regard his is no worse than any of our previous owners. In all other measurable metrics the bloke is a cretin, a failure, a stain on our history.
Let's focus on what he HAS done wrong, let's not twist "fake news".9 -

I was one deal too early. If Villa sell him, their sell on is full fee.0

Parzyszek? Passes height test. Scoring in Champions League tonight. Worth a gamble? Name sounds familiar?4

I can't count, on 2 fingers, the time a Charlton player was sold for significant money and the money reinvested in the playing squad. Funny enough we got promoted both seasons as well.
There are masses of things to criticise Roland for, but I share his concern at the finances of football, especially in the Championship. Just because some foreign owners are prepared to lose £20m to £40m a season, it doesn't follow that this should be considered normal4 -

Seems to have all gone really quiet. Personally I wouldn’t rule out another departure still.

Is Bowyer doing a presser today?0

I suspect that most of our targets have been deterred from signing by the low wages being offered. If we are also counting on the likes of Cullen and Bielik returning, then I feel we are in for a disappointment.
The closer we get to the start of the season without additions to the squad, can only increase the likelihood of a poor start. And, as others have said, this is a very difficult league in which to successfully play catch-up.
After the euphoria of the play-offs, this pre-season is looking increasingly familiar to the last few years, and realistically the only thing on the horizon is a long and tortuous fight against relegation, something which, after 60 years as an Addick, I am all too familiar with.8 - Sponsored links:

Creepy tweeting that he doesn’t think Konsa has a sell on clause, but he’s trying to get confirmation.2

Lee did its unlikely anymore bussiness would be dome before Welling. It seems to me they know there main targets and for whatever reason they are having to be patient.0

Konza gone. I hate Roland. The guy is a twerp. Aribo, Gonez, and Konza. All good players. If that man had any football sense or logic he would have been a lot of money on those deals. We would have a healthy transfer kitty by now.1
