Brilliant first half, was not impressed with Aneke, at a crucial time when we needed fresh legs to attack them he looked clumsy and unfit

Watched on Sky......disappointed - Yes, but hey 8 points from 4 games....that's a good return for a promoted club. We could, and probably should, have buried them first half but we didn't take out chances. However let's not be too critical, we have some very good players to join the squad....the way we played first half was outstanding. We will learn from this and improve...we have the 2 Israeli lads to come in yet.....this could be a very exciting season.....play-offs anyone?
  • Hoesntly couldn't imagine a Charlton team playing like that for 45mins against championship opposition for years 18 months ago.
I'm delighted with the squad and what they've achieved.

Just enjoying every game regardless of result.

Must stress at this point as well that the subs had absolutely nothing to do with their goal. Nothing at all. The goal was caused by Lockey making a mistake in dealing with the ball in and it dropping incredibly favourably for Adomah. It's not like a spare man popped up while Pratley was ambling onto the field. Blaming the sub for the goal is a total red herring

I think we got tired. Given our pre-season and the fact August is still a getting up to speed - fitness wise month - i think it is a positive. Maybe, we got a sense of what is to come. Quite exciting if true.

Good point. Can't forget Field was lucky to stay on and not concede a pen

Regardless or not its a big no no, said it to the bloke sitting next to me before they took it, it just makes people not aware of their jobs.

Lockyer left Adomah to block the ball in and his block dropped to Adomah.

Ameobi was lucky to stay on too IMO.

The 1st half was the best performance i've seen from us in probably 7 or 8 years. So unlucky not to grab a 2nd.

Overall a lot of positives for me, if we can keep those sort of standards up we'll be fine and have an enjoyable season.

Watch it again. The ball bounced off Lockyer and Adomah reacted but Pratley didn't. I wonder if Field would have got there as he was on the pace of the game?

Oshilaja stood out for me tonight! He has got one half of an engine on him and has ability! Will no doubt make mistakes but he is more than capable, as someone has already mentioned!

Yep Deji could be very useful this season.

The key moment was the Leko miss - would have put the game to bed. We will let the lad off as it was a great assist  but it is clear the part of the game he needs to work on. Also, I thought the Ameobi challenge was dangerous as was the later field one, although had Ameobi walked Field couldn't have fouled him!

In terms of conceding - we are a front foot, brave team which tries to outscore opponents. Always at risk if we don't get the goals we should do, but we will win a lot more points playing like that than we lose.

Good game though. That is football Millwall fans! Not anti football, proper football.
  • I have misjudged Oshi. Great game. Time to be a specialist, not utility.  £3m to Boro in January.

Watched from sofa , thought it was a real exciting game and a decent atmosphere came across the telly .
They even tried on Sky , badly, to block out the swearing during songs with a blurry noise in the background , mainly when we were singing “you’re fucking  shit”

pretty sure after about half hour sky put up some stats we had 6 attempts and 3 on target and I think forest were 0 on both at that point but come the end of the game we had only one more shot off target and forest had had a load , didn’t feel that way but it is what it is (someone who has taped it can correct me )

Fields challenge on Ameobi would have had needed the thames barrier up if that had been the other way round .

really enjoyed the match and dare I say it we look decent , I’m scared to almost think we should stay up !
the scum losing is good news as well

more importantly our rightful Championship position of “we’re still 5th” has arrived

Can’t really add much more.  Some sublime stuff in the first half and I’ll keep repeating it, just think there’s something really special about what Bowyer is doing.  Might take a bit of a pelting for this, but I thought 1-1 was a fair result.  Yes, we looked like we were on another planet in the opening 25-30 mins, but we tired and Forest for me grew into it.

Some stellar performances on the night and for me I was very pleased for Oshilaja, Sarr and Field who all came in and more than held their own.

I am looking forward to Hemed getting up and running because although I take nothing away from the Taylor/Leko set up, Taylor is doing a lot of work up top at the moment.  I think with Hemed’s physical presence, it will help lighten the load on Taylor and we won’t tire as much as we did toward the end.  Not suggesting for one second Hemed come in for Leko, just highlighting that we haven’t had a front two since Grant left.  Be very interested to see how we can play if we go down that route

The biggest challenge I think Bowyer may have is working out the strongest XI, but he may not see it that way, and tweak accordingly.

Regardless, great time to be a Charlton fan in terms of the team, the ability on the pitch and the management.  For me this is as good as I’ve ever seen us in a lot of respects
  • Great first half and o/s tackle by Lockyer to prevent a goal.

Ran out of steam second half and poor defending at a corner cost us.

Oshilaja looked very solid and Cullen was outstanding. Oztumer looks useful.

Sarr far better than I expected.

Just take a moment... Look at this table

    Look at those around us.

Feel a bit smug but know we're only 4 games in.

Sarr was about as good as I expected, namely fucking brilliant. In a back 4 he is borderline Premiership class

Mostly I want to talk about Oztumer and Williams though. There is no law about not being allowed two short guys in the same team. I really want to see it tried at some point. They are both magicians

We have to accept that this is a bloody strong squad Bowyer has somehow put together. It is going to get fitter and stronger. The football we played in the first half was better than all the so called Championship favourites are capable of. Those that haven't worked out he is special will be there or there abouts by now, including dare I say it, Roland.

A lot of Premier League teams would have been up against it for the first 40 minutes. We just did not get a second. Looked tired as second half went on. Lucky Forest goal but they should have had a pen.
