I popped in and out of the match thread, saw the subs on the Beeb link and you don't not need to be a genious to work out that Swindon would go forward and equalise! Poor, poor substitutions from Bowyer, will he ever learn???1
-
I've never been one calling for Bowyers head, but today I'm dumbstruck. We had the game won at 2-1, then we make defensive subs with 25 minutes or so to go! Williams, as many have said, should have come on, and maybe take Gilbey off or even Maartson (only for a tactical change). He would have ran at them and stopped them throwing men forward and made them think about keeping people back to defend against us, instead we invited pressure on and as soon as Pitman came on I said to myself he will score, he didnt prove me wrong...sadly.
People are rightly annoyed this evening, I am as well, but I would ask, if you get rid of LB now, who would you have to replace him, Bilic wont drop to this level, Cowley's brand of football didn't work at his last club and that leave who...that'll do a job of getting us promoted this season. I say, obviously I may be in a minority here, give Bowyer until the end of the Jan transfer window, see who he brings in and if that changes his set-up! Things last week were good, today there not so good, but I have to say Bowyer needs to admit that today he got it wrong!8 -
However you dress it up. If you give professional footballers time and space by sitting back for 20 minutes and absorbing the pressure, you're going to concede. It's just a no brainer. It's just a time thing but if you do it for long enough they'll score. And that's what's happening. I'm surprised that Lee expects more from his team. This is just common sense. It's alright sitting back but you must still have an outlet up field to relieve the pressure and keep the opposition honest. And we just didn't have that for the final 20. Even I can see that.4

Terrible subs cost us again, so defensive when we should have been taking the game to them.
Just so disappointing we cant defend when teams throw everything at us.0 -

We were playing the most out of form team in Div 1 and decided to hold on for a 1 goal victory, rather than try to kill the game off.
These players have shown they they cave in when asked to defend their penalty box. We have some potent attaching players, but they were either subbed off or left on the bench.
Yes, we are missing our first choice central defenders. I'd have thought that was even more reason to not sit back on a lead.
I couldn't give a shit what happened to Palace today.

For sure, tactics were again suspect. Instead of knocking it around we kept looking for the long ball and instead of going for their throats we sought to manage the game out much too early. How on earth, if we have serious promotion pretensions and against a team that’s been struggling, do we end up with six defenders on the pitch?Credit to Ben Watson who had a very good game, and Pratley was his usual combative self, but everyone else was bang average at best. Most definitely two more points dropped. Just hope all these missed opportunities don't come back and bite us at the end of the season. Nowhere near good enough.1

Just over 1/3rd or just under 1/2 the season gone and I have no idea what our best XI and playing style is.
Started today with a long ball as seemingly the plan. Only when we got it on the deck did we look like doing anything.
Can’t keep slipping up against these poor-form / low table teams and expect to get away with it. Would take play-offs at this stage.

Met a couple of Pompey mates on my way home from work this morning who are adamant we will win this league. They said they are playing crap but keep winning.0 -

I don’t count WBA away as that was in the 90 minsWhat I mean is, that Brentford game I wouldn’t count, but the rest are unacceptable. Maybe you say of those games it can happen 3 times maximum. I would love to know if any other team comes near to this over the last year or so0 -

We had two 'good strikers' on for the entire second half1

Knew we needed a third.
Saw the wind and rain, knew Williams wouldn’t come on in those conditions.
We wasted chances to score with poor decisions. Not giving up on Bowyer yet, we’ll go in to January with ambition for the first time in years.
More quality up front and pace/attacking threat in midfield needed in January. Doughty, Inniss and Famewo back from injury would help a lot too. Improve the team enough and it’ll turn games like that in to comfortable wins rather than 2 points thrown away late on.
Levitt needs to be sent back and replaced with a loanee who can make an impact. He was on the bench to make up the numbers with no intention to bring him on, no point him being here. Got to be a young attacking midfielder out there who we can loan and add pace to the squad.
For now we’ve got to work with what we’ve got, the squad we had available should still win that game. Much rather see Williams come on and give Swindon something to worry about, even if it’s just winning a few free kicks to waste time.
Fortunately the league is so close that it’s in our hands with the right additions to the squad and working out how to kill games off.9 -

Has Bows ducked out of the post match conference?0

Do you think the game would have played out the way it did if Bows didn't change to a defensive formation, and made the subs he did?0 -
Our manager is not accepting any responsibility and it's getting to the fans.
From the training ground injuries, to the fans not making noise, to bad tactical decisions, to player decisions.5 -
It's not just the substitutions and the last obviously negative mindset in the last twenty minutes, there's a lack of creative intention from the first whistle. We are set up to defend and attack on the break but we don''t have the players on the field who are capable of attacking. The midfield, when not being missed out with long balls over the top, simply don't have the nous or skill to play passes for our forwards to run on to and the forwards haven't the nous or skill to find space. This mindset must come from Bowyer.0
-
Lee you're getting on my tits. You don't learn from your mistakes.
We were in charge again, controlling the game.
Once again you took off a midfielder for another defender.
You relinquished the midfield, we sat back, invited them on & conceded another added time goal.
I could see what was coming, the fans could see what was coming.
Why can't you?
