    I'm not a supporter of the Royal Family, but I'm not one for having a go at those who are. It's people's choice after all.
    However I don't understand people getting upset about moving next Saturday's kick off times! Many football fans may want to watch the funeral procession etc on TV, and, as it's been agreed that the proceedings will take place at 3 PM, surely pushing back KO for a couple of hours won't hurt?

    Great to see the panel divided almost exactly as I would have predicted - Golfie being the honourable exception.

    Absolutley no reason at all it could not have been anytime between 10AM and 2PM.

    Watch what though ? A few family members, Surely there can’t be a choir and if it’s in a chapel there won’t be a lot of options for getting tv camera crews in. It’ll be the equivalent of Sunderland’s coverage of yesterday’s game with a camera a long way away

    You know the Royal Family's wishes do you? I'm sure there is a very good reason why they chose 3pm, which none of us is party to.

    The wife and I were walking the dog on Friday and we say a hearse go by with a little pink coffin and a teddy bear on it inside. It was very upsetting to see. I have to be honest and say it affected me more that day than hearing that a 99 year old man had died. I appreciate that he wasn't just any man and it was significant but I can't grieve for any 99 year old I don't know. Their life should be celebrated of course and my condolences go to those that were close to them, but I wasn't close to him.

    I was interested to see what they were saying about him for an hour or so but they then just said the same things over and over again on BBC1 through to channel 5. Because they had run out of things to talk about they started talking about some of Prince Phillip's faults. I thought it was disrespectful to do this on the day of his death. But these journalists do this when there has been a bombing or a significant happening. Nobody knows anything for a while so they get every Tom, Dick and Harry to talk about what nobody knows for the sake of it.

    I wanted to watch the Masterchef final but it was decided I couldn't. I wanted to watch some nostalgic music on BBC 4 but it was decided I couldn't. I want to watch my team next Saturday and I hope nobody decides I can't. Surely I can be sorry he has died without having to be in mourning for a week. I respect those that wish to mourn, but surely it isn't something that should be imposed on the rest of us.

    You don’t have to be a Royalist and be obsessed with them.
    Of course there are some who are.....but way way more support them without being obsessed.
    I certainly am a Royalist but in no way does obsession come into it......not even close.
    I firmly believe this is the way in which the vast majority of Royalists behave.

    I'm a royalist but when putting the TV on Friday night to find the same programme on BBC1 and BBC2 followed by the same thing two hours later.......bloody hell, I didn't think we were a dictatorship.

    From what I can see no decision on the kick off times of the EFL games has yet been made and the EFL "will now work with its clubs to determine at what time the matches will be played". I would assume they will still be on the Saturday and probably kick off at either 12;30 or 5:30.

    Im a raging royalist but I don’t care a fig if others are not similarly that way inclined (unless they are disrespectful or nasty towards it). 

    I think the press coverage was OTT but that’s solely down to TV executives and newspaper editors. All that coverage and print would have been planned, prepared or drafted probably years in advance. 

    I think the Royal Family should determine when the funeral should be whenever they want, and if it’s thought by sporting bodies to move clashes as a mark of respect, so be it. There is no catering or financial implications with sport at the moment so it’s an easy shift. 

    To repeat though, anything OTT around this is being driven by TV execs and newsroom editors.

    I read that one of his wishes was to not have a state funeral. If that's the case why is anything being moved to accommodate what is essentially a private ceremony?

    It's not a state funeral, but a lot of people DO want to watch it.

    We had been on a week's holiday in Devon when Princess Diana died and were due to travel home on the day of her funeral. We felt that out of respect, it was wrong to travel home whilst the funeral was taking place. We were unable to stay in our accommodation for another night, so we booked into an hotel in Exeter the night before and watched the funeral on tv.  We continued our journey home after the funeral and the roads were almost empty.

    If none of us are party to it, how can you be sure there is a very good reason they chose 3PM? Unless you are party to it, and you do know the Royal family's wishes ... 🤔 I think we should be told...  :D

    Not sure, he’ll be any good at a funeral as a pallbearer as he won’t let you down. ⚰️
