It sounds a bit ridiculous when you win 6-0, but my MOTM would be one of the backline, Amos or Pearce. The clean sheet is crucial, we could have gone 1-0 down in the first 15 and found ourselves chasing the game, which happened endlessly during our bad run, and we're no good at doing a Golfie.

Further, straight after half time Plymouth could have made it 2-1, but Amos and Pearce kept it out. If they had scored, the game would have been completely different, with us on the backfoot and Plymouth really up for it. Instead Amos does a great throw out which leads to the 3rd, which effectively kills the game.

Tonight really shows up how we much we've been underperforming in parts of the season, we can still keep clean sheets without Inniss AND with Pearce, Matthews and Purrington at the back we've conceded 1 goal in 4 games.

All the players did well but shout out to Ben Watson tonight.

Was really neat, involved in a lot of build up play but also defensively, passing out under pressure.

A real statement of intent, goal difference fixed and we're the team in form that others will be hoping to avoid in the play-offs.

It wasn't even as if Plymouth were terrible, they are no worse than a lot of the sides we lost or drawn with but we are so much stronger defensively now, and that was without Innis. Going forward we look likely to score with every attack.

Big choice for NA as Pearce, Famewo and Inniss all deserve to start. Nice problem to have.

    Bring on Peterborough.
Interesting point you make there, if we played all 3 of Pearce, Famewo and Inniss at the back, can you see any team scoring against them on current form? Maybe a change of formation on the cards?

I’d say that’s very unlikely, a settled formation and roles is a big reason we’re winning games and keeping clean sheets.

With two games a week it’s great we them available to rotate if needed.

Brilliant, about time we had a really good win like that. Had become so used to wins mainly being by the odd goal under Bowyer.

I wasn’t worried after Saturday, there are always plenty of twists and turns with teams dropping points when you don’t expect them to.

Great to have an almost fully fit squad and a clear system. The players know their roles and believe they going to win games.

After that Blackpool game it was hard to see where our next goal was coming from, never mind the next win.

Eight more wins and we’ll be promoted. A lot to do but we’re coming good at the right time.
Exactly. The mood on here after Blackpool was incredibly low, would never have thought 10 games later we’d have won 6 and drawn 4.

Blimey, what a result. I was getting fed up with all the passing around the back 4/to Amos during the first 20 mins, & never thought we’d score 2 let alone 6. Well done lads, keep it up.

  • 6-0 win, into the playoff places, the teams around us bottle it, the Super League is imploding. Not a bad evening

Amazing nights results, we can do this, it's been steady progress and hitting form just at the right time, every team around us would have winced at that result and will not want to play us in the play offs.

    Brilliant stuff, up the Addicks!

Fantastic result, fantastic performance. Nice not to have to spend the last ten minutes of a Charlton match biting my nails to the quick.
     And relax...

Anyone still think this is a shit squad?

We are a better football team with Watson than Pratley.  Although I wouldn't be adverse to seeing Pratley start on Saturday to sit on Szmodics.

I honestly believe that JFC is the best proper midfielder in this division.  Stockley is unplayable.  Purrington is a proper full back.

Funny how the worldies have stopped flying in.  Amos was outstanding, both with his handling and his distribution.

It's not to late to catch Sunderland.
Haha I want it known before anyone reads it that I expressed this exact same opinion in my preview for Saturday and am not just copying the above view :D - Think we need a repeat performance when Pratley marked Scott Fraser out of the game @ MK

Loved how Minto and Brown and Curbs and Kiely kept rhapsodising about the overnight stay. They were plainly remembering 5 hour coach rides after evening games, getting to their car at 4 in the morning..

Come the end of season when watching the goals conceded over the course of the season, it will he so obvious how so many worldies were hammered home against us.

Yes but the question is why.  We have had one "worldie" conceded since February.  We had a very different team selection in that game to the other 9 since 1st March.

There lays the reason and the solution.

Complete team performance tonight, just a great great win and with results going in our favour this season is finally in our hands.

If we can sort out our home form then I fancy us against anyone in the playoffs. Big game Saturday but even if we lose now we can still do it.

It might just be me but I still think JFC has a lot more to offer - hopefully after signing a new contract however.

Testing the goalie from distance and quicker give/go's will make him a near complete Championship midfielder.

...some fine goals in there and the link up between our front three was fantastic.

This is the most important part of a 4-3-3 formation, you have to make sure your wide players don't leave your central striker isolated, those players must be clear that they are NOT playing as wingers, they are playing either side of the striker and that's a very different role.

Flippin’ delighted, particularly as the knives were starting to be sharpened for Adkins. ‘Professor Positive’ has turned out to be... positive :-)

Still improvements required. We started horrendously slowly again. Should have scored 7 (Chuks!). And, er that’s about it.

We’re developing a cutting edge, and real solidity at the back, which augers well.
What?? Where has that been happening?
I’ve had a quick spin through some of the post Ipswich comments and although some were a bit critical, quite rightly, none that I saw were of the knife sharpening variety, so fair play to you, and apologies from me.
I think it was these two on the Plymouth match preview I was thinking of:
“Utter rubbish under Bowyer and utter rubbish under Professor Positive.  Not one decent passage of passing football during my waking hours so far under Mr A.”
And “However, I feel the N'Adkins bubble is about to be burst & we will not only be all at sea but our ship will be sunk come 9.35pm tomorrow.”

But I now see who wrote them and it’s more of stylistic thing. 😂

I'm off to bed and I will drop off with a big smile as I have never doubted the strength of our squad. Tonight it looked even stronger. Innis rested, 5 subs and all decent players.

Aneke, Millar, Gilbey, Watts, Stockley, Forster, Caskey.  Seven different scorers - that must be some sort of record.
I don’t know if it’s gone down officially as an og but Millar’s shot was on target so it should be his.

Just shows what a settled team can do. No square pegs in round holes & everyone knowing that one misplaced pass isnt going to get them thrown under the bus & dropped. Never seen us that clinical in front of goal & our 3rd seem to show how our luck might have just turned - Amos save / defender block stopped us from being just 2-1 ahead & 10 seconds later a deflected shot sees us going 3-0 up & pretty much job done.
