Adkins isn’t great and is probably, but who do these players think they are? Most of them aren’t fit to lace the boots of their predecessors but they’re acting like Billy big bollocks undermining the manager.
We started well but as the game went on the gaps grew and the defeat looked more and more likely. Maybe the chopping and changing means we lack awareness as a team, maybe the late signings mean we have too many unfit players but nobody seems to be taking responsibility for it whereas the ignorant supporters were calling it for what it was at the time.

The joint handling of the transfer window between ownership and management was utterly abysmal, and your hero signing Mr Ronnie Schwartz was a waste of money and space - for now just do the right thing and change this. I've spent a lot of time defending Adkins and have called for him to be given another half a dozen games to sort things out. After tonight that is even a stretch for me.
We smacked of a team that looked OK 'til the opposition got a sniff. Matthews twice repeated his basic defensive mistake from Saturday and our CBs ended up creating a hole the width of the Sea of Galilee for the final goal.
Bolton are a better side than some are giving them credit for. They were unlucky by all accounts against Sunderland, beat Ipswich by the same margin as they defeated us tonight and are in 7th place with15 points (10 of them away from home). The fact that they are newly promoted is absolutely irrelevant - they were favourites to win League 2 last season but had a disastrous start, winning just one game from their first 11 in all comps and only amassed 28 points from their first 24 games. They then went on a run of 51 points from their final 22 games to gain automatic promotion.
Bolton stuck with the newly appointed Ian Evatt and it's clear that he struggled early on to find a winning formula. I'm not sure we can do the same with Adkins but hopefully, either way, we can start to move up the table if and when some level of confidence and belief is restored. Quite how we do that I haven't a clue!
As Dazzler said on the Match Thread, its frustrating because for the majority of the game we looked like we were finally getting it together - To say we dominated the majority of the game is a stretch but it almost felt a smash and grab from Bolton when they went 2-1 up, they just decided to come back twice and kick us in the nuts whilst we were trying to get up from the floor.
Like the Milton Keynes game, the biggest concern is how much we crumble when we go a goal down.
Typical Charlton though, we've probably deserved a thrashing this season, its come in the one game where we didnt deserve it.

An experienced manager at this level means a “big name” like Adkins dropping down, or someone who’s been at this level for years and not made the step up.
Give JJ and Euell a few games to see if they get a reaction, if not bring in a good young manager on the way up.
Successful managers at this level tend to be younger. Maybe it’s fresh ideas, more drive to do well or finding it easier to relate to players? Whatever it is it works more often than the likes of Adkins and Slade stepping down and feeling like they’re doing us favour.

Partly, but Bowyer had very different ideas to Robinson. JJ can a go as caretaker and if it doesn’t work out get someone else in. It’s worth a gamble to see if he can turn it around.
Adkins is the managerial equivalent of someone like Harry Arter. He's older, but not that old. He's been all the way to Premier League, but now he's at Charlton in League One when there should still be life in his career. Why is that? It's because his career is only heading in one direction.
All the Mr Nice Guy stuff, it might work on some but I found it a bit cringe from the first interview he gave for us. Give me Bowyer's grumpy realism any day of the week - at least he came across as honest. I can 100% believe the players are laughing at him now results aren't going well because he comes across as having very little credibility.

I'd be surprised if another manager could get significant improvement from a number of them, especially the central midfielders. No matter who gets picked in that position they aren't good enough over 90 minutes and I don't see how a different manager could change that. That said we've got to try something as this clearly isn't working.

defence is dependant on the midfield - but 2 decent LBs to pick from, two poor right backs arguably, but with a set of good options centrally too!
It’s about consistent teams, a clear game approach and proactive game play - none of which we have!

I don't have any confidence that the people in charge at the valley know what they're doing. I don't have confidence that they'll get the next appointment right and things will improve.

We've invested to much in wingers, and it's not really football meta anymore so probably wouldn't work but I feel like a diamond of

Get Bowyer back? I know I’m in a minority but I’d rather have kept him and changed the squad last year. Missing his honesty and his Gucci school jumper.
Just look at our full backs....ponderous five yard passes to players hemmed in on the sideline with nowhere to go.....putting us under pressure everytime....it's just awful.....the opposition will play to mids or forwards running in to space looking for the one two pass or get beyond the opposition fullback....I could see CBT was fcuked and would have took him off around 70 mins....he didn't track back for one of their goals......same with Clare he was gassed after 70 mins.....he's not a good reader of the game is our Nige....I liked the guy and wanted him to do well but its time to move on

I sit behind the dugout lower west stand - Adkins has been jumping about and getting annoyed during games all season - he is clearly trying to get them to play a certain way, but I don’t think the players are good enough to carry out what he wants - as to what he wants them to do, well definitely he gets as frustrated as we all do with the sideways and backwards passing and the very slow forward movement / passing - and it’s worth noting that first half tonight, we did move the ball forward with pace, using CBT and Leko in the way we need to = a good display

It's difficult to defend when you've got at least two players coming towards you, time and time again. Matthews is infinitely better than Gunter. Players who we need to ship out with the manager: Matthews, Gunter and Washington. Barker can't do worse at right back. Players who shouldn't be starting, Watson and Pearce.
