JamesSeed said:That’s two games in a row where Stockley has missed simple headed chances. Last season he scored with his head from ridiculous angles - every time he headed the ball he seemed to score!Hopefully he’ll have got those misses out of his system now. I wonder if JJ will start Davison on Tuesday to rest Stockley?
He must have provided assists for around 5 of Stockley's goals.
A player often works well together with another individual, forms some sort of on pitch understanding, where both players read each others game perfectly. Without Shinnie, will we see one of Leko, DJ or Lee work well in picking out Stockley?

I agree RedChaser.
Stockley marking Michael Smith who is in the best goal scoring form of his pro career from set pieces could well decides who comes out on top.2 -
Bostonaddick said:Loving JJ’s high pressing all out strategy and his weird formation. It just seems to fit the skills of Stockley and Washington as they do better with two up front instead of in isolation. It gives Lee a free floating role to find pockets between the opposing teams defense and midfield. However, it heavily relies on Dobson and Gilbey to cover a lot of ground defensively in order for the “wingbacks” to get forward so we need to keep them fit. I am still a little skeptical that the back 3 with some sort of combination of Famewo, Pearce, Gunter, Matthews will be good enough against better teams in the league. We will see.
Seriously, it's a work in progress but in theory this team in this set up should only get better the more they play this way together.
We won't win every game. There'll be matches where teams will work us out - but with the flexibility in the set up/formation, there's options to defend in numbers if the situation warrants it.
We shouldn't fear the better teams. We didn't fear Sunderland and their 100% home record in front of their big home crowd.
That shows we've nothing to fear.
Anyway, in form Rotherham on Tuesday. That's the next test.

Let Jacko earn his spurs (did I really say that?). Seriously, it's been a brilliant start and if the performances continue, the results will more or less reflect that.
Let's review it in a month's time and maybe that's the time to think about a permanent appointment, with a month to go before the January window opens?

For real? I've heard it all now. I really give up with some people. Must be on a piss take.
Last season we missed out on the play offs because of GD. The season before we got relegated because of the lack of a goal - if, after the restart in June 2020, we had scored just 1 extra goal (turning a 1-0 defeat (Millwall for example) into a draw or a draw into a win) then the extra point would have kept us up.
I despair sometimes, I really do.
We win 4-0 and you're seriously moaning that we didn't score more?
I'm not having it.6 -
Looking at a psychologically healthier League table right now.
Just to be out of the bottom 4 is a great boost for belief, confidence and looking upwards, rather than down.
It's only 9 days ago that we were getting cut off from 'safety', with just 1 point more than Crewe.
This run so far is only 2 games, of course - but a run has to start somewhere.
Curbs must be happy ...... all we need now is 'momentum'.

That was sheer lungbusting determination from Washo, to lean inside the defender and get a touch on the ball just inside the box.
Felt a bit sorry for the defender, who IMO had no intention of bringing down Washo - but because Washo got in front of him, just couldn't avoid tripping him on the run.

Is that your one man nickname for Gilbey?

George has a bit of a bewildered look on his face there, as if he's saying;
"What's that smell, has this old bloke just shat himself?"
And Del has a satisfied look on his face as if to say,
"Oh yes"3 -
Woke up this morning feeling fine...but a little hungover! What a great performance and a scoreline our dominance deserved. Dobson, DJ, Stockley all superb. What a turnaround from the turgid shite under Nige. Especially enjoyed a moment in the 1st half where Purrington morphed into Lionel Messi and skinned about three players before bursting into the box haha! WTF?! Great stuff all round. And DJ looked a completely different player. How many excellent crosses did he put in 2nd half? Only negative was we didn't score more, but hard to complain about a 4 nil win. COYA

At the end of the 2018/19 when he would get forward a lot - something Jacko cleared remembered - yet so far we haven't been caught out on our left defensively, with Purrington stranded up field.
Replace Purrington, Gilbey and Dobson with Soaure, Morgan and Watson then it’s not going to be so effective.
I’d be looking to bring in more fit, energetic and mobile players in January if we can move a few on. Got to avoid bringing in more Watson’s, Arter’s and Gunter’s, too many in a team especially in more attacking roles limits us so much.0 -
balham red said:I can't buy in to JJ the savior yet, or any time soon. We saw the same impact when Adkins took over, and look what happened.
Let's wait until JJ has to deal with adversity, injury crises, other managers working out our tactics, etc. That's when you can judge a manager, anything before that can just be the 'bounce'.2 - Sponsored links:

I was remembering the free header which ended up looping away to Lecko. Nothing against Stockley, but I'd like to see him burying these chances like he did last season.0 -
