And apparently wages on turnover was around 52%.
Meanwhile the advertising was nearly all Sport Direct, everywhere around the club, so that turnover was a lot lower than it could have been.
Mike Ashley took money put.of Newcastle, rather than investing.
Again, I don't blame Newcastle fans for wanting someone who'd put money in instead.
Then they were relegated twice in the next decade - he didn't stablise a yoyo team or anything and suddenly turn them into PL regulars.
There's definitely worse owners, rather Ashley than an ESI type, for example, and sadly there are a lot of bad ones out there. I also think if Mike Ashley took over a League One club he would put money in to get promoted out of League One quickly (and if he took over a Championship club he'd look to back them to the PL quickly).
But I just think it's daft pretending he was brilliant for Newcastle and their fans just had delusions of grandeur, when mainly his tenure there was good for Mike Ashley.6 -

Clem_Snide said:Jesus. Are people really seeing Ashley as a reasonable replacement for Sandergaard? There has been uproar about the treatment of staff, look at the treatment of Sports Direct Staff under Ashley's watch......Newcastle fans despise him. We would simply be jumping from a sinking ship to a burning one.1

I had a call from the club today (and a subsequent email) from someone called Christos Apostolopoulos, "Commercial Sales Executive", a contact for season ticket holders. And trying to promote packages as my birthday is later on this month, for which I politely declined - just watching us play MK Dons on the 25th will be bad enough!
Is this someone new?0 -

Also had that call around my birthday, told me to call him if there's anything I need in the future.0

LargeAddick said:yeah, I'd hate to be a Newcastle fan, mostly pissing about mid table in the Premier League, gates around 50k, much more fun flirting with relegation to League Two in front of gates of less than 10k.
It's like when people laugh at Man U fans and Arsenal (in recent years) moaning about how shit they are when they're slumming it all the way down in 7th place in the Premier league. But those clubs are 2 of the biggest in the world so of course the fans expect better. But obviously compared to clubs like us, Derby, Oldham, Rochdale or of course Bury, they've not had it anywhere near as bad.
But ultimately fans want better for their team so it's not really any different to us expecting better than the bottom half of league 2.

There is now a takeover thread on ITTV could be worth monitoring as Reams does seem to have connections within and outside of Charlton in the football world;) Plus there is the Bexley dude who knows the tea lady, Kit man and any legal firm employees that might be representing any interested party!10

I’m upset now, I got my 70th in a weeks time and nobody bothered to ring me, even gave up my season ticket after 23 years so that Christos could have the pleasure of talking to me to hear me to tell him that I’ve got other arrangements and he could shove his offer.0

Haven't really been following this thread, but I've seen a couple of tweets suggesting Sandgaard is looking to sell & there are a couple of interested parties.
It's Twitter so I took it with a pinch of salt, but is there any truth in it?0 -
