killerandflash said:Some of the comments about Inniss are slightly unfair, as he's being asked to do something he can't do. We're not going to replace Inniss and Lavelle with Van Dijk and Laporte this January, so we need to play in a way that accepts that they are crap on the ball. The likes of Chapple and Rufus would have been terrible at tippy tappy stuff around the box, but it didn't matter as we played to their strengths.
Instead we have centre backs that have been told they have to play in a way that's alien to them, hence the indecision at the back where players who would have launched it last season, instead dally on the ball or try to "pass" their way out of trouble. Disastrously.1 -

Bad result today but that first 30 minutes was some of the best attacking football I have seen after suffering hours of that very boring Garnerball over the past months. I did not expect to see that and found it so refreshing. (Their goalkeper played well saved a few goal bound shots which kept us restricted to one up at half time).
Our players have shown they can play well but what happens to them when they let in a goal? Where is the character on the pitch? Where are the natural leaders calling for the effort and /or encouraging the younger players? We just seem to collapse and lose all cohesion. Then you get served the opposite in the game against Ipswich when we found something special to fight back in extra time. Confusing and very frustrating with no consistency.
We desparately need the players to adopt more responsibility and demand higher standards of play from all those around them. We have not had this for years. Unfortunately, Stockley`s loss of form and general arm waving is not fulfilling a captain`s role imo.

I am old enough to remember when Stockley shouting, moaning, throwing his arms up in the air was all the managers fault and it was a sign of his leadership qualities....
It was 15ish months ago. Him, Inniss amd others have regressed so much since they have been at the club it says so much about the current set up.7 -
It’s very sad, but we all need to accept football is not what up it was. There is only one fact now and that is - money. TS thought he was wealthy enough to do all that was necessary to be a success in football. He now knows he is not.
it has changed too much. The money that Richard Murray etc put in made a success for 7/8 years that would not be enough today.
players wages, agents fees etc have made the game elite for a select group. We do not even own the main asset- the ground. Is it to late to recover- I fear yes.1 -
Hayes should stick to what he's good at and get back to running the museum.23

Not a lot to add to everyone's anger, distress, frustration & apathy tonight.
Except to add the word missing IMO...sadness.
Today epitomised for me, how it feels to lose someone you love....someone you can't imagine living without.
That will be my lasting impression of this afternoon's performance.
But, like the very special people I was fortunate to bump into before kick off, we'll try hard to move on, albeit with an ache in our hearts for days, months, years gone by. We have many memories of the great times that no-one will take away from us and we cherish them.
Today, I found it difficult to imagine those days coming again.....and it breaks my heart to admit it.
Nothing will ever compare with the loss of a loved one but this old football club plays a big part in our lives and it hurts to watch it in decline.
WE HAVE TO FIGHT TO ENSURE IT WILL SURVIVE.
I'd like to say that all our thoughts will be with Sharon & Garry Jay this Christmas as they spend it for the first time without their beloved Ben. Always in our hearts x

Sad thing is I doubt Innis gives a sh*t0

8000 season ticket holders? I’m blaming streaming. Never seen the Valley so empty on a Saturday afternoon for a league game.
Forget energy bills increases. The same people found the extra tenner to watch that. Flush individualsThat first 60 minutes was decent from usHead up play the ball forward use the wide players. When one individual is at fault for both of there goals, then that’s a manager killer. After Stockport that was ten times better bar one individual

Good. Play him instead of Inniss, at least he can pass the bloody ball and provide some leadership.1 -

It was a nice composed pass by Inniss to their player that helped set up the second.🤦♂️1 -
OP has it right....spot on summary.
Ryan Inniss is a good defender but he is not a good footballer. Management need to simplify his job description....head it and kick it. Our daft "footballing culture" is destroying a good player at this level. Ryan also needs to wise up....keep it simple....dont play to your weaknesses. Its not like they can pair Lavelle and Mitchell and it'll be any better. Avoid mistakes and you will be first choice.
His partner Lavelle isn't worth a spot. Good lad but not up to it. Play Mitchell. Better player already.
Don't take Stockley off...pair him with Aneke. Use Leaburn on 85 mins. Our subs made us weaker, not stronger.
The above whining apart....I actually enjoyed the game. It was eventful and there were lots of good bits. It was entertaining.
That said, this is what a relegation season starts to look like. Even when we play well, we still find a way to let a less superior team back in.....and then let them win....without breaking sweat.

Waking up to ANOTHER home defeat is soul destroying - are we really looking towards League 2 football?

Never will I say I am embarrassed to support our club. I have loved this club for 54 years. It's our club. It's our Charlton. TS can fuck right off!!11

MOM was Rovers keeper and rightly so he made 4 excellent saves in the first half when we totally dominated the first 45 and played some of our best football seen for a while ..we were so much in control then the 63 min it changed .. individual errors we seen it at Port Vale with Dobson and McG v Cheltenham today step forward Sean Clare there was no danger why oh why did he decide to pass across our back line to Inniss who we could all see had Marquis next to him .. that pass changed the game then we did it again this time the out of sorts ( that’s being nice ) CBT took the ball from their half back into ours towards our goal and passed the ball again like Clare across our back line again putting Inniss under needless pressure ..
They did not deserve anything .. but in Marquis they had a proven league one striker .. the same striker we had lined up to sign and the fans threw there toys out the pram .. BG came in and scrapped the deal .. well he was the striker we needed .
MOM Payne was excellent today … but CBT dis- interested performance him
and Raki are not doing there jobs not creating anything..
another footnote Charlton asked Lee Bowyer to be caretaker manager but his agent was demanding to much money

All these ‘well respected’ young coaches who think they can get league one defenders to play out from the back can do one. Let’s have a “if in doubt, boot it out” coach next time. Really think we will go down otherwise. We can’t keep losing to teams we are better than by giving them goals.2

A pretty good opening 30 mins then a shakey end to the first half.
Looked alright back to 433, then not very effective when deciding to changing to two other formations.
Same old problems, too much farting at the back at times (we didn't much in the first half) and players not capable of playing football being asked too.
Just all became a little too predictable as the game went on.
