I’m pretty useless at recognising people - I stood outside Loftus Road next to Sir Chris Powell and had to do a double take, I blame it on that I normally saw him with a football shirt and boots on.I let Harry Kane into a traffic queue on the A12 (he said thanks) but Angus Deayton stole a parking space off of me at Heathrow; one went on to captain England, the other shortly afterwards fell from grace with a large bumb. Karma, I tell yer.5

We used to camp outside Radio 1 in the early 80’s hoping to get a glimpse of DJ’s & bands (often when we should have been at school oops).
Bruno Brooks had just started and I had no idea what he looked like.
My mate told me BB was in the lobby & to go in & get his autograph.Me being not shy in coming forward, bounded inside & walked up to a Geezer who I thought looked like a radio DJ & asked for his autograph.
The fella looked at me & as he pointed to what I thought was one of the ‘little people’ he replied, ‘you better ask him as he’s Bruno Brooks’.Honestly, he was titchy tiny 😂😂😂😂1 -

Muhammad Ali in his later years. Got Geoff Hurst's autograph when he opened a shop in Lewisham, Alpats I think it was but could be way off the mark. Lost the autograph tho.

I bumped in to the late Jill Dando while shopping in Vienna, 1996 ish. She was there for the Vienna ball and ended up famously dancing with Cliff Richard.
She was absolutely stunning and was more than happy to have a chat with me and the wife.

Nearly meeting Ray Winstone at the BFI is as close as I come.
This yr they had Nil By Mouth on as it was 25th Anniversary. Ray Winstone and Charlie Creed Miles one of the other actors in it did q and a after. I tried to get his autograph, but loads of autograph hunters were up to their usual tricks of barging through everyone aggressively, so I didn't get it, but I did stand next to him. I count that as meeting lol.
It's either that or Stuart Fleetwood in Virgin Active.0 -

We were walking towards Central Park, Manhattan when we noticed a crowd outside the CBS building so we tagged along. They were waiting to see the tenor Andrea Bocelli, the Italian tenor. We waited for about half an hour, entertained if that’s the word by minions sorting out cables, cameras microphones etc.
The cops cleared a pathway for AB and his assistant and the great man was so close he brushed past us. So we didn’t exactly meet him but came close.
Difficult to know what they were doing, probably making an ad as he tried the same little piece over and over.1 -

I keep bumping into Rio Ferdinand and Rob Beckett in Petts Wood, usually on Station Square/Westway.
As it happens, one of Rob's daughters is in the same class as my best mate's daughter now and they spent a lot of time with each other. I'm clearly not good enough for my mate as I dont get invited our for drinks with them when they go to the Daylight lol. Bloody charming.

this sort that worked at my local Next who I was knocking about with in my youth was in an ill-fated and unsuccessful girl band that Simon Fuller was involved with trying to get off the ground involving Jodie Marsh in the early 2000's
I never met her per se but I heard some stories which just made me a bit sad tbh.

I didn’t actually meet the Dalai Lama but I did hear him speak with a small gathering in McLeod Ganj in the Himalayas. He gave a great talk of which I understood not one word.
