Alfie May has scored 20+ goals for 3 seasons in a row, winning the Golden Boot last season. Selling him to a promotion rival is simply bad business whatever way you want to look at it.Both strikers would be good signings, but if we have to sell May to accommodate them then we’re in trouble.
Alfie has played three seasons back to back with 20+ goals. Very impressive individually. But his teams have never not flirted with relegation during that period.
I’m not going to argue too much here otherwise I’ll be accused of being anti-May like what happened with Dobson all over again…
In NJ we trust.

Cheltenham's Cawley seems to think he's off.0 -
Ridiculous if we're selling him and to a promotion rival.10

In NJ we trust. To get promotion you need a good team from front to back and last season the only one worthy of being in a promoted side was May.0 -
I think I might know why we haven’t announced any of those incomings yet… They’re going to give us a May sandwich.10
-
Even if May isn’t going to be your first choice, there is surely no way he wouldn’t be one of the best options to have as 1 of your 4 strikers. This is absolutely bonkers even by our standards4

Where does this line come from that "It's clear there is a disconnect between Alfie and Nathan", can't say I have seen any real sign of that, unless you include the fact he has been subbed a few times, which is very tenuous to say the least.
I feel that this is all a load of guff, and nothing more than a bid for a player allegedly from Huddersfield of all places, which happens in football...1 -
All this 'in Jones we trust' stuff is a bit strong imo. Long way from earning it to that extent yet.

In NJ we trust. If you offered me promotion in exchange for Alfie May then I’d bite your hand off, but that doesn’t seem realistic.Realistically we’re not going to get a significant amount of money for him, so why sell? He’s the dictionary definition of guaranteed goals, as well as all the other quality he brings.I don’t mind selling him for the greater good, but surely not to a League One rival?6 -
May looked good up top and also when he played behind the forward. Losing his and Dobsons industry is difficult to take in one transfer window.5

Let’s see what the consortium is about then. First real test for them to see how serious they are about promotion. And f*ck selling him, you could spend a million on the next one and he gets nowhere near 25 goals, finding goalscorers is the hardest thing to do in a transfer window.9

Slightly concerned to sell a guarantee of 20 league goals but if the offer is huge and Jones feels he can replace adequately then we have to back him1
-
We have 3 players good enough for promotion.
Blackett Taylor
Dobson
May.
Chill out we will be fine30 -

Wouldn't it be nice to suddenly announce 5 new players tomorrow - when the window opens0 -

Yes he needs to have his own squad to show what he can really do but prolific Charlton strikers are in the rocking horse poo category. Add to that May's work ethic and this would be a decision I'd find hard to understand.12 -

May was a best bit of business we did last season, selling him would be utter madness unless we have some really high profile signings lined up.7

Charlton’s soul is richer for the moments he bestowed, In every fan, his spirit lives, his story to be told. So here's to Alfie May, our star, wherever you may roam, You'll always have a place with us, at Charlton, you're at home.
We're all going to die2 -
