+++ Luke Chambers Signs On Loan From Liverpool+++

Makes ya laugh.
We are embarrassingly bad on the left hand side of the pitch, so much so we are playing a winger there, and a fridge freezer. Every team exploits our weakness down that side.
The answer so far, 20 days in, an untested, inexperienced Liverpool youth player, returning from injury, when we are in a relegation fight.
This is Roland Duchatelet levels of patchwork/papering over the cracks signing.
Welcome to the lad, but by the looks of things, he couldn't even stand out in League 1, so why have we loaned him. Reeks of desperation.22 -
Good luck Luke please be half decent

That is incredibly disrespectful to Gillesphey. I wonder if you were calling him that back in late May.Braziliance said:Makes ya laugh.

So we can buy him later on? Result!!!The Red Robin said:Sounds like he’s more of a centre-half that can play as a left back. Out of contract in 2027 by the looks of it.0 -

He's a left back/left wing back, who could maybe cover elsewhere across the back.1 -
It's called sensationalism, unfortunately a few posters on here have resorted to it a lot to try and make themselves stand out more I guessLargeAddick said:

I’d suggest judge him on what he does for us.Braziliance said:Makes ya laugh.

However the strategy does work, as he's got a bite already.2 -
Never heard of him and don't remember him playing for Wigan but hope he's good. Will reserve judgement but hopefully he's good. Be interesting if we stick with the back 5, if he's a LCB maybe he'll replace gillesphey or Jones will roll the dice and play 4 back.0

If he was then I apologise but even so it’s still disrespectful to someone whose worn the shirt.Covered End said:

In fairness we are quite desperate aren’t we? Personally I will wait for him to play a few games before writing him off as not good enoughBraziliance said:Makes ya laugh.

If internet / Charlton life didn’t exist, I wouldn’t have known the vitriol Macca was getting for the goal last night.
I didn’t even realise at the time it was an own goal.
I was more gutted about how easy it was for someone to get the ball into the box, that easily.3 -
You can like a player for what he done in one league, and see how bad he does in another.LargeAddick said:

I am loyal to Charlton Athletic, and support Charlton Athletic, not an individual player.
He's too slow for this league. All there is to it.3 -

Second time the word 'sensationalism' has been used in regards to one of my posts, and it's bollocks.
I just call things for how they are. People are just a bit sensitive to the harsh truth on here at times. This is one of the least ambitious signings made in the Championship so far, and it is in a priority position for us.
Meanwhile our relegation rivals are signing Championship standard players.5 -

Don’t get me wrong, I agree. He has been poor and he isn’t of the required standard for the Championship. Even so I stand by my comment that calling him a fridge freezer is incredibly disrespectful.Braziliance said:

Good luck to the young lad, especially if he starts on Saturday lunchtime. At least it's not down the old Cold Blow Lane with Harry Cripps delivering an early 'reducer'. May the spirit of Scott Minto and his early assault on Terry Hurlock guide young Luke, whilst deploying enough discretion to avoid an early booking.
Nathan will have a look at the lad this week in training and make the call but, if he does start, at least it will release Campbell to play higher up the pitch. We need to carry some threat and pace if we are to give ourselves a chance of taking something from the game.

Liverpool aren't stupid, if the kid isnt ready for first team football, then they wouldn't send him out on loan. There fitness team must be confident he's okay, otherwise they'd keep him close to Liverpool and the u21s.10

Looking at another left back we had on loan years ago, Jay Dasilva, no senior games when we got him, didn't turn out too bad.0 -
