NOOOO Niall Tracey taken out by the Chinese skater from third.
And then penalised after VAR but no one seems too sure why? Another go in to 5000m for Niall Tracey though
Yeah I must admit I struggle with understanding some of these penalties in the speed skating.

whole sport is ridiculous, almost impossible to get round clean and just seems to be luck if you don't get wiped out.

Not knocking any of the sportsmen & women representing our Country.........but surely we are better than being in the same spot on the medal table as Brazil  !

Think there was a couple of genuine medal hopes who came in in good form and just fell short on the day. I would guess they were probably hoping to be on 3-5 medals by now. Skeleton relay today seems to be regarded as a good one for a medal today (no I have no idea how that even works)

The Brazil thing is a bit of a red herring too. The Brazilian who won gold is half Norwegian and was part of the Norwegian program until 2/3 years ago. That doesn’t make him any less Brazilian of course but does change the funding and training he received

When they get to the bottom they hit a sign and the person at the top then goes, that’s what happened in another relay anyway

    That was nervy.

For both of them to overcome going out in the last 16 stages of the individual contests to get gold in this.

    Amazing.

Can’t wait to see the interviews as Bankes was distraught after the singles.

That was the most joyous podium I've seen all games

Nightingale went first and he finished 2nd so when Bankes went off in silver position she knew she had to reel in Casta and she bided her time and took the lead after 3/4 of the course and then Stayed ahead of Moioli after she got into 2nd place.

There is so much Jeopardy in the winter Olympics but having 2 Golds so far has helped to make up for the 4th and also rans.
  • Charlotte Bankes was in pieces after the individual event. She's done brilliantly to pick herself back up so quickly. Fantastic stuff.

It helped that the Aussie bloke fell in the first run, so his team mate had way too much ground to make up on her run, but Bankes still timed her move really well.

This mixed team skeleton relay is really fun, the F1 style start lights make it really variable
  • British medal in the skeleton relay. Our second pair can only be knocked into 4th if the first pair beat them.

Have to feel sorry for the other British pair, must be an incredibly bittersweet moment
  • Two in one day. Having never won two in an entire games before today. Astonishing.

Especially for Freya Tarbit who was quicker than Tabby Stoecker.
Edit - she was also the quickest woman.

Wonder if Matt Weston will be remembered enough come the end of the year, shoein for SPOTY already for me

No one has ever done what he's achieved in a Winter Olympics, just give him the award now and be done with it

Would only be stopped by a Norris/Russell/Hamilton WDC or a World Cup win.

Tabby Stoecker got the nod to pair up with Weston Super Matt as she finished 5th in the individual and Freya Tarbit finished 7th.

For Freya to be the fastest woman in the mixed was a fantastic achievement and she has a great future along with Tabby.

Freya and Tabby are both 25 so can have another Olympics if they keep their motivation and form.

  • Until today, Lizzy Yarnold was the only Brit to have won more than one winter Olympic gold, in the whole of history.

Also, we'd never won a gold in a snow event - all the golds before the snowboard cross today were on ice.

    Today was quite a day.
