Ongoing dispute makes it seem like there is a chance if they sort themselves out or JRS says bollocks to this, I want to join and progress my career.

As said above, it’s his career, not anyone else’s. No one of his representatives have his best interests truly at heart, they’ll be looking to get him the best deal financially because it means they’ll get a bigger payout themselves.

He’s at the age now where he needs to have a home and kick on and it seems to me that this is that place. The longer it drags on the harder it’ll become for him and his career. Signing for a club in January because your agent has messed you and your chances around, isn’t ideal as he’ll be unhappy for too long and options might not be the same in 4 months time. Football is tough, out of sight and out of mind is very much a thing.

Really hope the ongoing dispute means it can be worked out and he’s our player by this time next week.

The agents literally set their fee for doing the deal. Of course they can scupper a transfer.

He wasn't necessarily referring to JRS though was he? He could have meant we were looking at another striker and a RW (having already moved on from JRS, though that was not common knowledge) but now we have to factor in 1 or 2 CBs. No one outside of the club really knows.

If your legal representative advised you not to do something would you just ignore them?

I still don't agree with this position, Edwards for example is due back soon (training on grass if I recall????) and although we saw him in limited appearances in the championship he didn't look out of place and has played both fullback/CB before. We also don't know the extent of said injuries, if its a grade 2 hamstring as said before for Billy, that's 2 months max? if we go the CB route again we're resigning ourself to another half season at least of 1 dimensional attritional football. We've looked good in attack so far and spent the entire of pre season preparing for a more fluid style why would we sacrifice that

Maybe this is the problem.

Rules on who can act as an agent are much stricter now and the club may not want, or even be allowed under FA rules, to pay or deal with an unauthorised agent. Just my speculation.

If we are playing a back 4 then Edwards doesn’t help at CB, I’m not sure Bell does much either. Mesik looked solid there but it’s not ideal and we currently have no backup. We definitely need to sign a centre back
