Fuel shortages
Reading that we could be weeks away from fuel rationing. Don’t know about others, but I am already getting anxious when my car reaches half a tank. Find myself feeling light headed and sweaty when filling up the vehicle. Think I might be coming down with car owners virus.

Grand National 2026
Eyes down, it’s that time again. Entries for this season's Big One due in just over a week (weights allocated mid-Feb, as usual) but there's reason right now to begin serious evaluation of likely entries and, if the fancy takes, nab some early prices. Next Thursday sees the 2026 Thyestes at Gowran Park and there’s a few…

Savings and Investments thread
I hope that like many other fine threads on CL this one will be a place where Lifers can share both knowledge and experience to help others. It isn't for "rich" Lifers. It's the way of the modern world that all of us have to try and save for old age. And it is not the place for politics, even though politics affects our…

The Space Thread
Wondered if we had any keen stargazers or any with interests in all things space on here. Might be an age thing but in the last couple of years it has become a real new interest of mine. A bit niche for a football forum I know but thought there might be one or two on here with an interest! Wondered if people had been…

Tyreece Campbell thread
I have been a Charlton supporter for 58 years now. I don't usually 'want to have a say' but I am intrigued what everyone else thinks about the T. Campbell situation. Without doubt NJ is the best manger since Curbs but what on earth does he see in Campbell? Stoke HT- TC no crosses, no going passed his man, tracking back…

Lloyd Jones 2.0
As the previous Lloyd Jones thread has been closed and doesnt look like its opening up anytime soon, I thought I would start a new one to discuss his current form and potential interest in him. World Cup 2026 - USA/Canada/Mexico
Venues to be announced by FIFA in a ceremony later today. 23 stadiums will be reduced to around 14-16 across the three countries. I would expect four or five stadiums from Canada and Mexico and nine, ten, eleven or twelve from the States. Some local governments are scrambling over each other to offer FIFA the biggest tax…

Thought I would start a thread for horse racing in general. (tips and comments here please ;-)) Cracking days racing at Ascot today. England Cricket 2026
With the Ashes now a distant memory (we wish), it is time to look forward. So, what do we have coming up for England? Football facts that don't sound true (but are)
Inspired by the Aguero not being a PotY conversation, what other facts do you know that sound like they shouldn't be true but are? I'll start with a couple. The £5 pint
It's here. Had my first £5 pint in a "normal" pub last night, i.e. not a bar/club, etc - just a run of the mill boozer. £5.17 for a pint of fairly tasteless italian fizzy water (aka Peroni). I promised myself I would give up pub bozzing as soon as this day came. A sad sad day for all concerned.

I am going to say it!! Yes I am, Nathan Jones......................
Out!!!! yes I said it and I don't care. Shit negative football, making 4-6 changes every game tell us he is desperate and has no clue. Dropping decent players who have played well for no reason. Horrible little manager with no clue whatsoever. How have we come into the season with no attacking midfielders and no wingers.…

Pubs, and the demise of.
Some of you may be aware that the Porcupine in Mottingham has closed down and been bought by Lidl. My personal view is that the place was a dump and would rather it became a Harvester or something along those lines but 1400 people have signed a petition calling for the pub to be saved. Have Pubs had their day or what?
