Just back from the Oval. I have never seen so many pissed up people in all my life. Great win for Kent we actually smashed them. We were helped by the number of players Surrey had out but a good allround display.
This.
Great night out.
I think the majority were watching the other "game" at the end.
Game 1 Kent win by 54 runs.
Game 2 Crowd/plastic glass beer stackers v Stewards, I'd say an honourable tie.
Another inept batting display from Kent in the CC. 140 all out against Northants who, in reply, are 193-7.
Our batting this season has been truly shocking in the CC with just Northeast (47.71) and Denly (36.71) averaging above 30.
By contrast, our seam bowlers have generally performed well with Stevens (33 wickets @ 21.39), Coles (42 @ 22.66) and Thomas (22 @ 26.81) heading the list. The spinners have struggled, perhaps on wickets lacking bounce and turn, though with Riley just 4-346 and Tredwell 0-94.
too many pisstakers in this 'first class' squad we know all of them are better than they've performed these last two seasons cos we've seen them play better consistently in previous seasons. I know Kent isn't a wealthy club which certainly doesn't get a fair crack of the whip from ECB but too many performances, far too often have been way below par. Talking to a couple of seasoned "professionals" after a limp capitulation at the st laurence ground last season the complacency was writ large, they know that KCCC has to put out 11 players for each of the fixtures, there are way too many fixtures, the squad members have contracts, so all get paid, win lose or draw, the chief ambition is to play just hard enough to avoid getting sacked but not so hard as to risk career curtailing injury and to quote "this life is sure better than really working for a living"
This is the Aussie team that will play Kent starting tomorrow, chin up: Rogers, S Marsh, Smith, Clarke, Watson, M Marsh, Haddin, Johnson, Harris, Siddle, Fawad.

Johnson and Harris against our batting lineup, hmm
I expect Key, DBD and Northeast to get us to around 280-1 by tea.
Sorry, meant at the bookies we are 280-1 to bat through to tea.
When was the last time we did that let alone against an attack as good as the Aussies? A lot more longer than 280 innings I would suggest. Add two noughts on and they might be close to the true odds!
Kent won toss and rather in keeping with the nature of the game elected to bowl. Have rested Stevens and Coles our two top wicket takers this season but still sent out a reasonable team in the context of those available:
DJ Bell-Drummond, JL Denly, RWT Key, BW Harmison, SA Northeast*, AJ Ball, SW Billings†, ME Claydon, MD Hunn, AEN Riley, IAA Thomas

2 Great games.
I've noticed the crowds have been very appreciative of his energy & skills in the field & this continues apace today.
Bumble now referring to him as "Billingsgate".

14-0 off two overs. Has no one told D B-D & Denly that Fridays is T20 day?
Both D B-D & Key gone. Some things just don't change sadly.
Still 48 behind.
Stevens out for 28. Denly still hanging on in there on 28.
Still 6 behind. Ball now in with Treders next ;-(

Our batsman have been pathetic this season in the 4 day game.
You might get one session in if it rains on Thursday.
