Any Charlton fans knows the Standard article is nonsense. They're not trying to appeal to Charlton fans anymore, just protect their own reputation. Any casual football fan will read that and think 'fair enough' because they won't realise it's recycled and meaningless nonsense, won't be aware of the Varney emails, or realise the extent of what a farce the Fraeye appointment is.
That's my point aswell the casual fans doesnt give a shit one way or the other. So why do they appeal to them instead of us. Shambles of a club.
Probably to attract more Spurs supporting taxi drivers for an amazing matchday experience with an in-house DJ and Premier League stars of the future ;-)

I rarely post on here but as someone living in Italy Charltonlife and those that comment on here are a great way to stay in touch with the club we all love so much.
However I have started to feel that for the majority on this forum the club in their eyes can do no right. I for one think that some intiatives and intend the club have shown have been positive if I'll thought out.
Are the powers that be really that evil? Is Richard Murry really the person some are making out? As fans (sadly) we don't know what is going on 'upstairs' as much we think we do. I for one would settle for championship football. I love that the first team squad has so many youngsters in it this season. Of course they will move on in time. Of course before we want them to. But that is not a problem unique to Charlton.
If you believe in what Richard said then the club have admitted they have made mistakes and aim to improve. Lets hope they do and let's travel with a bit of hope rather than all the constant negativity about the club all the time.
I'm afraid I can't agree with you.
The club are repeating the same mistakes over and over again and have no intention of learning from them.
I wholly agree that having youngsters in the first team is fantastic to see. But we are seeing their confidence, and potentially careers, eroded by throwing too many into the team together, too soon. KAG is a prime example of this.
No permanent manager in ten weeks, no sign of an appointment of experienced pros at any level of the club.

I had a feeling that this would happen. it's like a bad relationship. one admits that they have made mistakes after continually doing wrong before. you forgive what has happened as you have hope that this person can change their ways. you take that person back just to be fooled again. don't buy into the lies these people have to go!
You cannot possibly underestimate the Championship if you have an actual real-life manager, one who has maybe managed in the Championship, or at least to a similar level.

It doesn't matter what we know about what's going on upstairs, we can see what's going on downstairs, on the pitch, and clearly it's all a complete balls up. More or less everything that Murray said was recycled from the fans meeting and presentation. Whatever they say their strategy is, it isn't working, and unless it changes, we will have to put up with this year after year, and god knows how bad it would get if we are relegated. For two years now they have got it wrong. This is at least the third time they have admitted to making mistakes, yet here they are, still making them. There has been no improvement in recruitment policy (both player and manager), in communication or in our league position since they took over. If they are really trying to do things well, then they are just terrible at it and should step aside.
It's great that you are happy with Championship football. So am I, but the way things are going, one of these days we are going to be playing League One football again. I've stated here many times that I'm not expecting a play-off/promotion run immediately. I'm happy to consolidate in this division for a good few years providing that we see progress, but we are going backwards.

So to put it concisely, what the 'interview' tells me is: 1. That KM is hiding/sulking as she is afraid that someone might ask her a meaningful question that she has to justify 2. That they are trying to pretend that like naughty children we can be ignored or placated with empty platitudes 3. They realise that they have made mistakes with player recruitment but haven't learnt a thing from them 4. That they don't understand that financial stability is commendable but not if you lose sight of what a football club is about: being competitive on the pitch 5. That competitive football being played at the Valley is not important in their vision but a sideshow 6. They will cut the playing and non-playing staff to a skeleton to achieve the madman's vision of financial stability Oh, but we should all be happy with it! I feel deeply saddened for so many reasons but fuelled by their arrogance to protest and fight on. This is OUR club and life.
Perhaps RD should ask all the owners in the Prem whether they are able to run a football club with financial stability. I think what we know is that it is not possible. Even the big 4 struggle to show anything like a profit.

Regarding PL club finances, that's not really true any more. TV money is so high, even basket cases like Newcastle make a modest profit. CP made £23 million profit in their first year, even with infrastructure investment. TV money goes up by a massive amount next year. Of course, the demands of players and agents will go up, but the biggest challenge to our financial stability in the PL would be RD trousering 10s of millions, as he did at Standard Liege.

Always good to hear from infrequent posters. I just had a couple of things that came to mind when reading your post. In the order i've highlighted in bold above.
1. They've had chance after chance now. I, like many others have been willing to see where this goes, and was with them up until results under GL started to dip and he got the boot. It's just the same old shit. Hence why we as a forum are on the whole, pissed off. This latest pr/communication exercise is neither here nor there, whether it be billed as a statement or not
2. Could well be. Have they got the best intentions for Charlton Athletic football club. We still don't know RD's end game. I don't use the term 'evil' in the traditional sense, but a healthy football club is one that is making or trying to make progress on the pitch. RM has trotted out a lot in the 'statement' about FFP, stability and so forth. At the moment we may be funding sustainable losses, but under the incompetence (better word than evil I think) of RD & KM, I can seriously see us in league 2 come 17/18 season. The losses will be beyond sustainable then.
3. Yes and no. only when those youngsters are supported by experienced pros that can support their development. Not slightly older, shit players from Europe who are massively out of their depth. If anything KM's mantra about pride in our academy is complete bollocks when they risk destroying the many for the sake of one star (THD - already exposed this season when he shouldn't have been. We will ruin some of these prospects)
4. It's not negativity that people have happily been part of. If you read this forum often, you will know that some of the regular, level headed posters are at their wits end. It's taken a lot, but RD & KM have got us to this point. I truly believe unless RD has the guts to come over, tell the fans we have got it wrong and are now looking at issuing a serious statement of intent (ie manager, good players) then nothing will change opinion now. And why should it. We are but this angry based on FACT. The FACT the club is a mess
I'm not having a pop at you and I respect your opinion and like I say good to have a different view from different people rather than just the regular posters. I just can't agree with it based on everything I outlined above
