Not good enough. Can't believe people are taking us throwing away a 2 goal lead to such an average team so well. Good result in the circumstances? It's an absolute waste.
Our team isn't good enough with about 14 fit players and we could have scored about 5 goals against a team who has come down from the Premier League
I feel like at another time I would have been alright with a point against Cardiff, but given that we were 2-0 up and we haven't won in about 14 years this was a real disappointment. We have to start winning games soon, and the ones where you're 2-0 up at half time should be good candidates for that. Very frustrating in the end.
We did ok. The defence looked strong apart from at set pieces. Not a Naby in sight and still we were terrible at set pieces so clearly it's a wider issue than just Nabster refusing to jump every so often. Matthews was excellent, even when tired at the end. Oshilaja was really strong and broke up play well but he looks weirdly slow in a sprint. In midfield we were decent, Oztumer was always scheming and Gallagher was so full of running. Bonne had a good first half but faded away in the second. Leko was an idiot savant the whole time he was on the pitch, doing insane things and still being involved in goals. Doughty was excellent when he came on and Albie did a decent job as well. All in all that's really about as well as we can play in a lot of ways with this squad, but our final ball wasn't anywhere near good enough. We had opportunities at 2-1 and then towards the end at 2-2 to win it so it's very frustrating that we were so wasteful in the second half. Our biggest problem at the moment is that we can't bring anyone on to change a game when things aren't working because our bench is completely empty. I don't think we can blame Roland here for quantities though, only quality. We have two players in every position, it's just half of them are crocked. I'd like to have a better option than Leko, and an alternative to Purrington in some games sure, but unless Roland is going round ice picking people's knees in training he can't do much about the treatment room.
Bottom line is we need to start winning games or we're in trouble. I can't wait until we have a few more players back but it's wins wins wins and nothing else now
I don't think you can blame the sheer amount of bad luck with injuries on Roland, for sure we have the smallest squad and lowest budget in the league, but you have to take your hat to bows for even making us competitive.
I think Roland’s definitely played a big part in it. It’s happened every year since he’s been here.
Smallest budget in the league means signing cheap players. Cheap players either lack experience, are coming towards end of their career, have had injury problems, are trying to turn their career around or are looking to prove themselves in a better league.
We signed so many players late on in the window they didn’t get a proper pre-season.
If our playing budget is low I expect our medical budget is also low.
Doughty looks very good and looked more of threat than Leko. Shame we couldn’t take more of our chances. Hopefully Cullen injury not too serious and just need more of the same on Tuesday please.

We can't lay the blame on Roland for injuries? He funds the team, we end up loaning half decent players but the ones we buy have to perform at their absolute limit to be on par with the opposition, this in my opinion is why they're getting injured. Out lack of strength in depth means we have no options to rest players...
We now know why we brought in so many midfielders.
That's true but getting the players in early, so they have a good pre season enabling them to build up core fitness, helps the players withstand the demands of the season. Its allows the physios and medical team to also know where the players are physically.
That's on Duchatelet the last minute approach to getting players in. Agree on the players being on the limit and not able to be rested due to lack of strength in depth.
They won’t need to be rested. After today’s performances I bet each and every one of those players can’t wait for Tuesday night.
Fair result in the end. Running out of bodies and a a few of them were blowing out of their arses for the last 10 mins. All that said, throwing away a 2 goal lead is so frustrating. speaking of frustrating - Leko again. Spends far to much strutting about and not doing very much. A couple of times we were about to start a move up and he had his back to the play. Tidy finish for the goal, but he needs to do much more....given the injury list, he hasn’t got anybody breathing down his neck so it’s the ideal opportunity for him to take his chance and keep the shirt when players get back fit.
"Then again, if Williams came back and we never had to see Oztumer again, that might be even better."
This week's candidate for 'watched the game through a blindfold' is...Stig?!
He's got to learn to pass the ball in front of the man, not behind. Until he can do that I think I'd rather wear a blindfold than put up with the disappointment.
Thought we played some of the best football I have seen us play this season today.
Thought Oz was outstanding, as was Bonne and Gallagher of course. Some of their link up play was amazing.
Not sure he will be spoke about much but liked Matthews on that right hand side, gives us that attacking width we lack. That being said how good was Doughty when he came on against a tiring Cardiff defence.
Once we get a couple of players back think we will chain together a run of results.
Very impressed with Doughty. Raw pace and tbf he did well when he got into good positions. It’s a god send with this injury crisis and ownership that we have such a good academy.
Bowyer's post match interview doesn't instil me with confidence. Roland needs to pull his finger out.
For those that didn't hear it he said that it is frustrating that he hasn't been given a contract like all the other Championship managers but all the time he is here he will give his all.

He just looks exasperated poor man. I can’t be angry with any of the team, they are giving their all. The two kids coming on were fabulous. I love this Charlton Squad, both team and staff. But it’s making me hate Douchbag even more which I never thought was possible.
The assist from Leko for the first goal is the funniest you’ll see probably ever. Sums him up. Then the second goal a deflection. He’s unpredictable but you’ve gotta love him 💕
Lee Bowyer saying he wants a proper contract, just like the rest of the managers in the Championship.
Lee Bowyer, Johnnie Jackson and Steve Gallen working miracles on the smallest budget in the division. Would top Premiership teams be loaning great young players, such as Connor Gallagher, if there was not such a good management team in place ?
Lee Bowyer's contract needs sorting out as soon as possible.
Bonne contributed to play brilliantly with his holding up and running. However he missed at least three clear chances including yet another airshot which is what he’s there for primarily. I’m not knocking him as he’s doing far better then we could have hoped and he shouldn’t actually be playing if plan A worked. But I can’t give him 9 or 10 because he didn’t do the important bit which was to score. He could have and should have today.
Good comments above. For me a good performance today was so important as, quite frankly, the last two games we haven't looked good. And today it was a good performance. We slowly worked our way into the game and at the end of the first half we were totally in control with a two goal lead. We had played good football and deserved the lead. At the start of the second we still looked good but the luck wasn't with us. Cardiff got a lucky penalty and missed but their first goal was so unlucky for us. Four or five of our players around the ball, covering well, but a lucky deflection saw them pull one back. Their second I don't remember too much about to be honest except Gallagher gave the ball away and they scored. So, from 2-0 up back to 2-2. And then Cullen gets injured. What more could go wrong?! But from there to the end of the game we could/should have won it. I thought Albie looked good when he came on as did Doughty. With a bit more luck/composure we could have done it. And that was the character of a Bowyer team. We looked down and out really but we could have won although I think a draw was a fair result.
As for individual performances I thought Bonne had a very good game. Could have had two goals on another day and his link up play was top drawer. Gallagher had a good game but he did make a couple of mistakes which were costly (their second springs to mind). Dillon had a good game in goal as usual. Generally we looked good at the back but we were rocking a bit sometimes in that 2nd half. Pearce and Lockyer played well as did Purrington and Matthews. Oshilaja looked alright. I'm glad we didn't have Sarr out there! Cullen had been quiet really before he was injured. I thought Oztumer looked good pushing forward. Apart from his goal I thought Leko didn't have a good game. He's a difficult player to assess though because in one moment he can change a game.
So, I was pleased with the performance as I think Bowyer will be. But, injuries are decimating us.
Bowyer continues to do wonders with the resources he has been given. But injuries are killing us. Did I already say that .

Players will always want to play.
If players pick up niggles, then strength in depth in a team allows the manager to give the player a rest, or put them on the bench, to bring them on late in the game. Resting players can prevent them picking up a bigger injury.

Williams changed his game to be fantastic. If Ozzy can see a pass sooner, he could definitely be back up to Williams in the same role.

Without Cullen and Gallagher we would really struggle but Bonne and Oshi did well first half and both youngsters did well second half.
Lee looked very frustrated.

Knew we wouldn't win as soon as we started singing Harris what's the score.
