A return to the Valley and to winning ways!
The first half was a chess match with Charlton leading the way with possession and Fleetwood making inroads on the counter. We gave them far to much space in behind our backline, but they weren’t ruthless enough to capitalise. They were comfortable enough with leaving the ball to our centre backs and packing the middle. Our midfield couldn’t shake free and our centre backs weren’t careful enough in possession. As the half wore on, we grew into it and made better use of our possession. We had a few opportunities of our own, but we also couldn’t capitalise.
In the second half we began to make headway. Young Mason imposed himself and came up with a goal to reward his efforts and open the scoring.
Dobbo was immense throughout as always, breaking up play and turning defense into attack. He never hides and always seems to be in the right place at the right time. I hope his confidence continues. Chuks played well again, imposing himself and giving their centrebacks something to think about. He banged about for 90 minutes, which should put to bed any health and fitness worries, for now. Alex Gilbey started on the bench again today, but made a big difference in attack when he came on deep in the second half. Perhaps it’s time to start him again, in place of Elliott Lee, who has also found it difficult to make his effort felt. Coming off the bench may suit him and help him find his form again. In terms of being out of the side for an extended period, and then coming back in, Albie Morgan had a good day and was rewarded with a goal to cap off a fine performance. Also, special mention to Innis, whose header put Mason in on goal, and marshaled the defense to limit an in-form Fleetwood. And Corey Blackett-Taylor’s blistering pace kept Fleetwood at bay in the first half, as a primary outlet on the left wing.

Good much needed win 👏🏻👏🏻
I thought that awful song wasn’t going to be played as soon as the game finished anymore? Let the supporters & players enjoy the moment before the dirge gets put on the record player16 -
Inniss and Dobson excellent ... Gilbey made big difference when he replaced Lee19

Didn’t get to watch today but delighted to hear Mason scored again. He’s got a bright future.
Correct me if I’m wrong but I believe that was Albie’s first goal at the Valley?
I was shocked to see both Morgan and Lee in the starting XI. I have always preferred Gilbey to Lee and if we are rotating the midfield, it has to be Morgan & Gilbey for the next few matches. Lee needs a rest.7 -
Blooming needed to break that sodding run of results. Anyhow, anyway. Job done.3

She's back on the ocean waves!

Chuks lasts another full game

Really didn't enjoy that first half but a deserved 3 points in the end. Hopefully that goal allows Morgan to push on, very well taken especially considering the miss just before.
Burstow, please let us keep hold of one of our young stars for a few seasons. Innis was excellent and Claire was solid again. Felt much more confident with Mac back in goal too.
We have a very tough run of games coming up so getting into some form and putting some points on the board is essential.14 -
With Morecambe beating Wycombe we neede that win.

Oh no. Not again. Guess it's because he was there.ParkinsonOut said:Good much needed win 👏🏻👏🏻

Poor 1st half
Better 2nd half
Burstow looks a real prospect
Onwards and upwards3 -
I didn’t get to watch today, pleased to see we’ve won!I wanted to see a midfield of Gilbey, Morgan and Dobson a few games ago. Would be curious to know what people made of them playing together. Happy for Morgan, sounds like he did a good job today. Let’s hope he keeps up.Really want us to build on this and start to get back on track to finish the season as well as possible.1

Won ugly, improved after thirty minutes of nervous, misplaced passing, Dobson was the only one keeping his head. Fleetwood ran out of Ideas in the second half, for all the corners and free kicks they had we were generally dominant in the second half in our own box.5

Gilbey"s run for the second impressed me. He's got a good engine and feet to match, with a cross at the end of a mazey run. Excellent7

Jimmy "Who ate all the pies" - poor ref

So pleased for the win, and buzzing for Mason, and Albie, and also great to see Chuks and Innis make another 90 minutes. However, and it’s very rare I would ever feel this way after a Charlton win, I find little from that performance that fills me with any positivity or encouragement moving forwards. Gonna sit on my thoughts for a while, as maybe it’s just slight bias filtering through.13

Enjoyed that. Best performance for 3 games4

Really poor game of football but thought Innis was excellent defensively and Dobson the best player on the pitch yet again. Thought CBT did well for about 10 mins at the beginning of the 2nd half but apart from that our wide players looked lost again.12
-
Mason’s going to be a special striker. He’s got a real knack for goal.18

We won. That's about the only real positive. Was bored out of my brain for most of it.IMO the 3-5-2 has been worked out by our opposition. Teams get in our faces and we just start humping it long into the channels. No one particularly stood out.Where is the energy from the Plymouth and Ipswich games? So many look like they are going through the motions.Feel no affinity with this team at all.10

Won't talk about that 1st half.
2nd was a whole lot better in a long time. I thought CBT was brilliant. Probably my motm.2 -
One of the most pointless moans ever about “that song” - don’t even hear it in the ground.Boring game but deserved three points. Clare and Morgan deserve credit, others were 6/10s.9

Do you people remember who 'owned' the club before TS bought it?Karim_myBagheri said:

I do, and that song can be played before, at half-time and full time as far as I'm concerned.
Such a small price to pay to be rid of the crooks.34 -

Shit game of football but a win's a win. Got a very tough set of fixtures coming up so that was desperately needed.
Won't dwell on individual performances, but there were some who continue to be poor.
Pleased for Morgan, could see how much the goal meant to him.3 -
2-0 home win, clean sheet, both goals scored by academy products. What more can you ask for?

Gone from losing, to drawing, to winning without the quality of play improving all that much.
BUT
A win is still a good thing, especially for both the goalscorers (for different reasons) and sometimes coming through a really sticky patch can teach a manager a lot, especially a new one like Jackson. Certainly lessons to take from that but three points can only be a good thing.5 -
Yeah but I will always think the fan made atmosphere is better.Redskin said:

Not sure the first half was as bad as some are saying..they had chances but so did we. Second half we deserved the win without question.
CBT had a blinder as did Burstow, Morgan and Innis. Once the first goal our confidence was there so we need to crack on now.
Thought it was a complete performance 👍
Had to edit as a special mention to the ref...grossly out of shape and a shocking performance aswell. Standard of refereeing is horrific at this level!6 -
Will Burstow play more than the 49 games that Lookman played for us? And more than Gomez’s 21 games and Poyet’s 20 games?moutuakilla said:Really didn't enjoy that first half but a deserved 3 points in the end.
