Mate of mine reckons Fraeye has it in his contract that he has to be given a certain amount of games. Not sure how true that is but would explain a few things.
  • what a load of bollocks, it just underlines how disconnected the regime are. (I wont to refer to them as the club anymore).
Who raised the questions on their statement?, they were not the questions that i would have asked.

No. *this* is the real one... REAL STATEMENT

  • Looks like Fraeye til the end of the season - making him our longest-serving manager interim head coach since Powell?

The hole they are digging just gets bigger. They just do not have a clue.

Who on earth at the club, individually or collectively, thought that doing that today was a good idea?

To think this interview was even needed, this interview, shows extremely poor judgement.

Even though club silence has been deafening, the actions and inactions alone have been enough to concentrate on, and wisdom would suggest the regime ought to have kept quiet and started actually doing something.

Personally I have not been hanging on for the past couple of weeks desperate for a 'statement', I have been desperate for action.

    Still am.

It seems to me that this 'statement' was aimed more at the press than fans. The club have been taking flak from just about every media outlet and on the face of it, this statement may look positive to the average journo. This might be their way of relieving some of the pressure that's on the club right now.

Then we fight fire with fire, and we set them straight.

I personally think you're 100% correct, and as I mentioned before the statement: this was timed at the point when media interest had decreased and we didn't hold the stage anymore. Fortunately, if we can cobble up a few contradictions (most of which are already compiled here, yipee!) - then we simply:

    - share them on the net (be it here, ITV, reddit, other forums we belong too)
    - get some tweets going, whip up a frenzy
    - contact the journos who have demonstrated a friendly view of us
    - go back to ringing up talkSPORT and the like.

Cheers Murray, this may be the little boost we needed to get some more of that attention that we clearly crave.

It is absurd how little intelligence is left at the club, I'm surprised they even find their way to work everyday without stopping and asking for directions!

  • Since when does them colluding together to make up some questions that they (mistakenly) think will appease us and then creating the answers together constitute an 'interview'?

Of course ...... nail on the head !
  • I think most have missed the statement. The glaring omissions are the statement(s).

RD will not sell the club! KM will not walk away (and probably carry on in the same vain)! There will not be a new manager any time soon!

Thus the statement was cleverly worded to appease those that are not in the 'minority' that insist that RD is hounded out and to inform those that are in the 'minority' that their protests will not get them what they want. It will also dissuade some of those in the media from continuing to support our campaign.

I'm, frankly, a little surprised that anyone can be shocked by this. It was all too predictable.

Cawley now saying that the RM interview was the statement.

    That's because it was.
  • What a load of cobblers. All this statement has done is to ramp up even more discontent. Murray has shown complete contempt for us all, where was Pinocchio surely she should have been the one fronting up, no on second thoughts she'd have just laughed.

Ok how do I sum that up?....I have just read 'the statement', which to me is just a well-crafted interview with no difficult questions and pre-prepared answers. None of the vital issues have been asked or answered, plans for the future, player sales, PV's offer, protests, KF eligibility as manager, how many managers have we interviewed, etc, etc?
As a communication piece it is 'poor' at best and a darn right insult to the intelligence of us the supporters at worst.
I used to have enormous respect for RM, knowing he was a true CAFC fan, now, sadly, he has allowed himself to become the new mouthpiece of an autocratic and insane Belgian, who sits in his ivory tower oblivious to everything going on. His old mouthpiece has either disappeared off the planet or has lost her voice (probably caused by shouting "you are only 2%" at the crowd on Saturday evening!!)

This statement underlines to me the 'lost cause' of a desperate regime trying to paper over cracks that would have sunk the Titanic (if it had't hit an iceberg that is!!). I hope PV sees this and thinks now is the time to go in directly to RD and 'relieve' him of his fanaticism of running a football club and buys him out. We need forward thinkers, a CEO who understands British Football clubs and their makeup (not just face make-up so followed by our current CEO!!) and an owner prepared to take the risk of 'speculating to accumulate'. The riches of the PL are next season, alas I can only see League 1 football after that 'statement'!!

As an aside I still wait for a response to my emails, that have not even been acknowledged, so where are the steps being taken to improve communication?

How about we do a mock Q&A of our own as a response i.e.

    Q. What do Charlton fans think of the current board

    A. We think that Roland is a loon, Meire is a witch, Murray is puppet
  • We asked for Murray to break his silence. I believe it's told us what we need to know.

PWR this thread but have read the 'statement'.

I can just imagine the boardroom conversation where RD says to KM 'you need to say something'. KM replies 'they call me a liar so not sure that would work!'. RM butts in saying 'I'll issue something - they still trust me.'

    Oh no we don't!

Total and utter bollocks but absolutely no more than I expected.

    Hang on a minute.

Is Wednesdays off something that the majority of football league clubs do? Players get Wednesdays off? As in, across the league? Can someone confirm as to whether this is standard industry practice?

Players have usually had at least one weekday off a week - certainly under Curbs.
    Usually Saturdays from March onwards
Or in our case Saturday's from September onwards, usually between 3 and 5 o'clock.

You're right, but we can't forget that the Standard Liege fans got what they wanted.

    Keep pushing.

RM has gone from almost having a stand named after him to a laughing stock in just a few months...
  • Well if nothing else, it's more motivation to continue the protests.
  • The Q&A statement reminds me of the PR pack that gets issued when a new movie or album is released...

Well if nothing else, it's more motivation to continue the protests.

I hope someone at the club reads this (very likely) and passes it on to Katrien and her PR minder (doubtful).

It hasn't worked. Try again, try something different.
