It's remarkable the changes made in such a short space of time. If we play like that week in - week out - we will go where we go
But that side, that manager can hold their heads high. We have our Charlton back. Nathan Jones gets us, gets the players, gets the club
I don't need to see us promoted next year. I just need to see that pride and that effort weekly

Wow what a tremendous 2nd half performance that made an old man extremely happy. I punched the air with delight when the two goals went in and wanted to scream and shout but had I done so then the missus would probably thought I’d lost it or suffered a heart attack. The driving snow that arrived here in Minnesnowta during the first half tempered the atmosphere somewhat as we left the field at half-time.A reinvigorated Addicks started the 2nd half full of purpose, determination and grit. Our Nathan who doesn’t mince words obviously cajoling the team and replacing the ineffective Camera and Lapado on to better things. Our Nathan has put the Athletic back into Charlton. The players are playing as team. The players are playing for each other. The players are playing for the shirt. The players are finally playing for us and for Charlton.Thank you Nathan for restoring some pride in our hearts in these last few weeks. We know the job has not finished yet as you alluded to in the post match interview but boy oh boy have you made a difference!18

I don't know if this has been posted, but once Camara and Lapado, our poorest players on the night, left the field, there were no loan players on the field of play in a Charlton shirt. We were one nil down at the time of their departure, the rest, as they say, is now a lovely bit of history.23

The half time team talk at Pride park by Nathan Jones may go down as the Catalyst when Charlton Athletic's player's took on board what the Welsh pocket rocket has been trying to instill into the whole squad since the 1st training session at Sparrows lane.
Reading was poor as the match came too soon; Lincoln was better but the Cafc fans were disappointed with a draw as they didn't realize the Imps were in the process of being the form team. Bolton draw was immense as they had our number in recent games. Portsmouth the leaders came to the valley and we kept a clean sheet with a shut out. Finally a win after a low quality 1st half on a low quality pitch but despite being 1 down, the victory came about because the manager was brave and had 3 strikers on the pitch at the same time: May in the 10 position with Aneke and Kanu playing as twin strikers.
Derby got nervous as we took the game too them and our 11 on the pitch played with belief and the result was achieved and the mentality that Nathan demanded was plain for all to see as 3 points and Cafc first win at Derby since 99 came to fruition.
Only 3 points BUT it must be the spring board to a strong finish to this nightmare season now we have woken up.

Enjoyed watching that second half showing and delighted to finally get a deserved win. Easy to get carried away because wins have been so hard to come by, but Derby away on the 27th Feb 2024 might just come to be remembered as the dawn of our recovery, our darkest hour having passed.

A magnificent second half response to a very poor opening period.
We still have the stench of Roland owning the assets, but at long long last we have the manager and (hopefully) the financial ownership model to take us on a journey to the Championship and maybe beyond.
I know it's only a game, compared to family and real life, but when you are wedded to the club for 55 years it's been really hard watching us basically capitulate to inferior teams this season. I admit it got me down.
Hopefully now we can move forward and the footballing world once again are forced to recognise that the Valley is a very hard place to get a result, rather than a sweet shop.

There is a fact about League One. The refs at this level let a lot go. It is almost non league like. It has been a limiter on us for a while. You have to be a bit dirty as well as decent. And I think we have finally realised that.3

Was booked for a birthday meal with the missus for 7.15 - moved it to 6.30 so I could get back for the second half.. best decision ever!Thought we were absolutely superb all over the pitch - worked our socks off and got what we deserved. REG, Gillesphey and Coventry starting to show why they were brought in. Kanu, Small and Anderson outstanding for youngsters. Thank you Nathan and the boys for a great present and giving us a team to be proud of again!5

Mind you, did you see the post-match interview with this "child"? He spoke with a maturity and measure way beyond his 19 years. Terry of course was bursting with enthusiasm about the quality of his finish, but he just said "oh, well I just caught it well, it's a basic skill" and i thought, "blimey, kid, I can't wait to see some of the more advanced skills you're obviously working hard on"
Terry's most often used phrase in commentary last night was "superb work by Daniel Kanu"; in the last 10 minutes they wondered if he needed to be subbed and he answered them by roaring past his defender in the channel for the umpteenth time and winning us a precious time-wasting corner.
The one thing that hasn't been mentioned though, is Alfie May, the forgotten man, probably averaging about 4 hours disturbed sleep a night, who came on and slotted into a number 10 role and then had to convert a penalty. I could hardly bear to watch, as missing that could have had huge consequences for the season. No worries, low and hard into the left corner. No keeper in the world had a chance with that.

What a transformation,the same players who were getting booed off the pitch a while ago,now playing like their lives depended on it.They now look as if they are playing for the shirt,No Jones might have been a problem,but his absence was not noticed.wont get carried away but on this form we can beat anyone in this league.Next 3 games all winnable,but the opposition will be up for it as well,expect one bad result but 2 wins would be great.1

Playing devil’s advocate a bit as I do think we look generally improved under Jones, but you do wonder how much of a factor this is. Results improved under Apples too in the spell where he had Chuks available…3
